Rice, Adams, Ayers, Coffman, Watson, and Grant Winners at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY- May 1, 2015- Ponderosa Speedway would host the American Dirt Allstars on Friday evening and they sanctioned the Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks and Jamey Adams of Laurelville, OH would take the $1,000 victory. Other feature event winners included James Rice of Verona, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, J.T. Ayers of New Haven, KY in Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds, and Todd Coffman of Parksville, KY in Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Models. Make up feature winners from the April 24 rainout were Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY in Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds and Bartley Grant of Berea, KY in Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks.

Eddie Stewart would lead the first 14 laps of the American Dirt Allstars KDRA Super Stocks $1,000 to win event before Jamey Adams would take the lead on a lap 15 restart and drive on the event victory aboard his Adams Trucking/Adams Chassis sponsored #42A Adams Chassis. Stewart would take runner-up honors, while Russ Gabbert would finish third. Bartley Grant and Glen Hounshell, Jr. would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Daniel Howard, 17th starting Brad Davis, Derek Bottoms, Chad Barrett, and Johnny King. Grant would be the top qualifier among 30 entries as he set a new track record at 15.242 seconds and heat race wins would go to Grant, Adams, Stewart, and Howard. Davis would win the B-Main. The make up feature for the division would be won by Grant as he and Hounshell, Jr. would battle door to door for much of the event, with Grant slipping by Hounshell, Jr. with two laps remaining to win behind the wheel of the Tori Grant owned Rainmaker Race Cars/Adams Chassis/American Racer South/Hackworth’s Garage/Cedar Cliff Mafia sponsored #43 machine. Hounshell, Jr. would take second, followed by Johnny King, Jeremy Howard, and Glen Branham.

Brad Neat would lead the way for the first 13 laps of the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model feature until a restart on lap 14 when third place Josh Rice dived beneath James Rice and attempted to slidejob by Neat exiting turn four, but the pair would make contact and Neat would end up against the outside retaining wall and done for the night. Going back to the last completed lap, James Rice would inherit the lead and keep brother Josh Rice at bay to claim his second consecutive win at the track in the seat of the Kuzman Racing owned H.E.A.T. Inc., Bennett’s Excavating/Poske Performance Parts/Extreme Sportswear/Kuzman Racing sponsored #11R Club 29 Race Car powered by a Jay (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)ens Race Engine. Josh Rice would claim second, with Michael Chilton, Brian Smith, and Daniel Dial rounding out the top five. Completing the top ten were J.L. Muse, Timmy Taylor, Ernie Cordier, Daniel Shelton, and Steve Smith. Neat would be the top qualifier among 14 entries at 13.275 seconds and heat wins went to Neat and Justin Rattliff.

Cameron Marlar would lead the first 11 laps of the Sweet Beans and Things Modified feature event before pulling pitside with mechanical issues, handing the lead over to J.T. Ayers, who would pull away in the final few laps to claim his second win of the season at Ponderosa Speedway in the Don Ayers owned Boone’s Butcher Shop/Western Crane Service/After Hours Body Shop/Snap On Tools/MVP Garden/Guy’s Building Supply sponsored #28 Bandit Race Car powered by a Dale Meers Race Engine. David Webb and Michael England would finish second and third, while Ryan Thomas and Jeremy Hayes were fourth and fifth. The rest of the top ten were Chase McWhorter, Cy Cundiff, Joseph Husband, Gerald Haynes, Jr., and Marlar. Ayers would top qualifier among 14 entries at 15.130 seconds, while heat wins went to England and Marlar. The make-up feature event would see Jeff Watson lead all 20 laps to score the win behind the wheel of the Shofner Enterprises/Brad Burton Dairy Farms sponsored #11 Tomahawk Race Car with a Frank Ofria Race Engine. Ayers, England, Thomas, and McWhorter would trail Watson at the finish of the race.

Elliott Despain would lead the first 12 laps of the Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Model main event before Todd Coffman would take the race lead and drive on to his third straight win in the division in the seat of the Sharon Coffman owned Auto Connection/Self Service Storage/The Muffler Shop/Coffman Photography/Todd’s Body Shop/Harrod Farms sponsored #35 Rocket Chassis, Hendren GM604 powered mount. Despain would settle for second, while Zane Powell, David Freeman, and Chris Fair completed the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Gary Yeager, Matthew Smith, Matt Patus, Darrell Gaddis, and Tommy Carlton. Twelve entries saw Coffman as top qualifier at 14.018 seconds, while heat wins were scored by Despain and Powell.
