CARTERSVILLE, GA – The cars and stars of the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will head to the Great Smoky Mountains this weekend for a pair of races that will remember two dirt late model legendary men. The two races will also be a homecoming for three NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series title contenders.

The first stop will be the $2,000-to-win 2nd Annual Bill Hendren Memorial 40 on Friday night at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC followed by the $4,000-to-win 4th Annual J.T. Kerr Memorial 40 on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN.

The defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN won both of these races last year to take over the series point lead that he would never relinquish on his way to a second straight $20,000 title. The National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee comes into the Mountain Madness weekend this season already with the point lead and one win.

Johnson holds a 66-point lead over Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL going into Rounds 10 and 11 of the 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division schedule. Edge will be looking to redeem a 17th-place finish last year at Tri-County Race Track and an 11th-place finish last year at 411 Motor Speedway and will also be looking for his second win of the season.

There will also be a pair of local favorites that will be taking on new roles this season, as they are now both NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series title contenders and the top two drivers in the battle for the 2015 Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year honors.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National standings, just 40 points behind Edge, and he also leads the Rookie points. King was the 2012 and 2014 Late Model Champion at 411 Motor Speedway, and will be looking to show what he’s learned on the road at his home track.

Matt Henderson of Loudon, TN will be bringing his #H2 Duayne Hommel Tribute car to Tri-County Race Track on Friday night and 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Henderson is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point standings and second in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year standings.

Both Henderson and King have been doing well traveling to tracks they have never been to before. King has one top five and three top ten finishes in nine races, while Henderson has one win, three top five finishes, five top ten finishes and one fast time award this season. Last year, King finished fifth and Henderson took the seventh spot in the J.T. Kerr Memorial Race.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series regulars will face a tough contingent of local favorites at both Tri-County Race Track on Friday night and 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday night.
