Dennis Erb, Jr. Rallies to Top Ten Finish in Ralph Latham Memorial; Eldora Ahead

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to the states of Tennessee and Kentucky on May 29-30 for a pair of $10,000 to win showdowns. On Friday night at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee, Dennis Erb, Jr. timed in tenth fastest in Group B during qualifying and later grabbed the fifth transfer spot through his heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the tenth row in the 'Toyota Knoxville 50,' Dennis survived a flat tire on lap 43 and salvaged a thirteenth place effort in the 50-lap affair.

At the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening, another $10,000 winner's check was on the line in the 29th Annual 'Ralph Latham Memorial.' Dennis ran eighth in his heat race and seventh in his B-Main, but received a series provisional to gain access into the 50-lapper. The Carpentersville, Illinois star then started the 'Ralph Latham Memorial' from the inside of the twelfth row and blasted all the way up to as high as fourth in the running order at the Cincinnati-area speedplant. A late-race caution helped drop Dennis to eighth in the final rundown at Florence and he currently sits ninth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings. The #28 team has made the trek to the Buckeye State for the 21st Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ presented by Ferris Commercial Mowers. The hallowed high-banks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio will play host to the three-day crown jewel extravaganza from June 4-6. The ‘Dirt Late Model Dream,’ which will be sanctioned by the UMP DIRTcar Series, is the richest Dirt Late Model race in the world with a whopping $100,000 going to the winner of Saturday night’s 100-lap feature event.

A total purse of $306,625 is available for the three nights of racing, which will kick off with Twin 25 main events on both Thursday and Friday. Dennis has made four career feature starts in the ‘Dirt Late Model Dream,’ with his best finish of second coming in 2013.
