This being the first big race at the house that Earl built since his death, is there any kind of special memorial events happening at the big E, any words being said about Earl over the speakers?

What's being done out there to give thanks to the man who made this the best of the beast in the world dirt racing?

Haven't heard anything mentioned about him yet, but I'm sure that they have something planned for today. I found it strange not to be hearing him mentioned more. I hope that Bernice shows up tonight so we can show our respect and sympathy to her for all that she and Earl gave to the sport. I've seen him and her there for years and I regret not going up to him and shaking his hand and telling him Thanks.

Good to see sombody cares. Sure seems to me like there isn't enough thanks being given to the man that gave so much. I just don't want to hear one day people say... Earl who? That would really suck!

Is it possible that they are waiting till the world? After all that is what Eldora and Earl are all about, right?

Missing man formation on parade lap was a tribute to him!

I'd imagine u will see some cool wraps and maybe a bit more effort by eldora speedway at the world 100, that IS THE CROWN JEWEL RACE

I wouldn't have done anything. I'd save it for the world 100 and make the purse $93,000 in his honor.

There was an interview I read a few weeks ago that talked about earls legacy/ chances at special memorial races in his honor and multiple people from family to staff said earl was a strong opponent of them. Can't remember if it was dirt on dirt or another site.. They said there would be a lot of subtle memorials and the statue by the entrance, but earl would roll over in his grave if they thought about doing a memorial race.

No they didn't, but that's one man I don't think they could do enough for. I'm sure when the world comes around there will he something special in store.

Earl didn't want a memorial race, or any of the glory. The track is just fulfilling what he requested of them. To carry on the legacy of eldora , not the man but the track.

The track had Earl's spirit all over it last night. Despite what went down... that was one hell of a race!

At the drivers meeting, Roger Slack stated that Earl did not want them to have a memorial race or make a big deal of it when he passed.

The missing man formation was awesome. Gave us all goosebumps. They did a remembrance during the opening race in April. It was very nice. We thank him every time we crest the hill on Northstar-Ft. Loramie Road and see the track come into view. That feeling never gets old.

Earl shouldn't have struck anyone as the type to want some long drawn out fancy ceremonial circus type memorial. Keep improving Eldora, keep it dirt, keep the fans happy, and never forget the man who built it.
