Iron Motorsports Nabs Pair of Podium Performances in DLM Dream; Merritt Next Tonight!

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) The Iron Motorsports team made the familiar jaunt south to the hallowed high banks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from June 4-6 for the 21st edition of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' Things kicked off in Darke County with a pair of Twin 25 preliminary programs. On Thursday night at Eldora, Jeep Van Wormer clicked off the fastest lap in his group during qualifying, won his heat race, and later advanced up to second in the 25-lapper to finish an impressive runner-up behind only $2,500 victor Scott Bloomquist. At the "Big E" on Friday evening, Jeep once again won his heat race in preliminary action prior to nabbing a third place effort in the $5,000 to win headliner behind only race winner Jonathan Davenport and runner-up Steve Casebolt.

With all eyes on the lucrative $100,000 paycheck on Saturday, Jeep had his sights set on a strong run in the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' Unfortunately, he was involved in an early heat race scrape with Chris Ferguson, which helped drop him to a sixth place finish. The Pinconning, Michigan ace later ran eighth in his B-Main, which unfortunately kept him out of the 100-lap crown jewel main event. Complete results from the extended weekend in the Buckeye State can be accessed online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

“We had a great car all weekend long and I can’t thank all of my sponsors, family, and crew enough for their support throughout the Dirt Late Model Dream,” stated Van Wormer this morning from his race shop. “I especially want to thank Bruce from Brucebilt Performance for all of his assistance throughout the weekend, he really helped get our car dialed in and was a great asset for our Iron Motorsports team. We performed very well during the two preliminary nights, but that scrape with (Chris) Ferguson in the heat race really set us back on Saturday. It’s a shame because I think the way the racetrack wound up for the feature, it would have been pretty good for us.”

Following the busy weekend at Eldora, the #55 team will jump right back into action tonight, June 10 at Merritt Speedway in Lake City, Michigan. The American Ethanol Late Model Tour will sanction a $3,000 to win shootout tonight in the Wolverine State. Jeep will then enjoy the June 12-13 weekend away from the racetrack after the race tonight at Merritt.
