CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS traveled to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on Saturday night and collected his eighth win of the season driving The Strength Center Special. Arnold now has a 67-point lead over Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL in the point standings.

In 11 weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, Arnold has 530 points after eight wins, ten top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 14 races. Arnold has competed in one more week of competition than Joiner.

Arnold still has three more weeks to earn full points before he hits the 14-week mark in the 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series 27-week season. After that, Arnold will begin to net point by trying to replace his lowest weekly point total with a higher one.

Joiner finished third on Saturday night in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series race at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL driving the Three Trade Consultant Special. Joiner remains the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point leader. Joiner has 463 points after one win, nine top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 11 races over ten weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL drove the Skinner’s Body Shop CVR to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track, and climbed up to the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 389 points.

The 13-year-old Skinner continues to lead the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger. Skinner has five wins, eight top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in nine races over eight weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.

Billy Riels Racing teammates Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS did not compete in Week 12 competition and dropped to the fourth and fifth spots respectively in the point standings. Lee has 380 points after one win and ten top five finishes in ten races over eight weeks. Daspit has two wins, four top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in eight races over eight weeks.

Adam Cummings of Odenville, AL is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 331 points after one win and six top five finishes in seven races over seven weeks. Cummings finished fourth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the Cummings Racing GRT.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS finished tenth on Friday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the SMJ Race Parts Trak-Star to move up to the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 328 points. Jordan has two top ten finishes in ten races over eight weeks of racing.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS did not compete in Week 12 action and dropped to the eighth spot in the standings with 327 points. In nine races over seven weeks of competition, Keeton has one win, five top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in the Byram Trucking GRT.

Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS did not start the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model main event on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway and dropped to ninth in the standings with 322 points. Palasini has four wins and seven top five finishes in eight races over seven weeks of competition in the MP Trucking Special.

Cole Daffron of Pell City, AL drove the TSR Race Cars Special to a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track to become the second Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series driver in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings. The 17-year-old driver rounds out the top ten in the standings with 317 points after three top five finishes and six top ten finishes in seven races over seven weeks of competition.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 12 action, Matt Henderson of Loudon, TN drove the High Roller Race Cars House Car to victory over a 38-car field on Friday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL was the Saturday night winner at The Mag to collect the $1,000 top prize topping a 42-car field in the Freeman Farms Trak-Star.

Cody Smith of Holt, FL picked up his third win of the season on Saturday night in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series race at Southern Raceway driving the Smith’s Performance Rocket. Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN drove the All Around Underground Special to the win on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN.

There were two rainouts during Week 12 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season. Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS rained out on Friday night, and Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX rained out on Saturday night.

Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge points after Smith gave them their seventh win of the season. Shaw gave the defending and three-time Chassis Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL their fifth win of the season and moved them into a tie for second place with CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN.

Four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is fourth with four wins this season. Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
