Ray Cook Pockets $5,200 for Scott Sexton Memorial Title at Volunteer Speedway!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook claimed his third feature win of the 2015 racing season on Saturday evening, June 13 at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee! The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) once again presided over the 3rd Annual 'Scott Sexton Memorial' at "The Gap" and a strong field of competitors piled into the pit area.

Ray knocked down the second fastest lap in his group during SAS qualifying, which locked him into the inside of the second row for the start of the 52-lapper. The Brasstown, North Carolina standout then grabbed the lead on lap 36 with an outside move and led the rest of the distance en route to pocketing the $5,200 payday over Donald McIntosh, Mark Douglas, Jason Welshan, and David Payne! Complete results from Volunteer Speedway can be accessed online at www.sasdirt.com.

“We have got our Capital racecar rolling pretty good right now and it always feels good to win at Bulls Gap,” exclaimed Cook this week via telephone. “We had a great battle up front there for a while and fortunately we were able to come out on top. I am looking forward to heading back to Smoky Mountain this coming weekend. Our car was fast over there during the World of Outlaws show last month, so hopefully we can give those Lucas guys our best shot too!”

The popular driver known as the “Tarheel Tiger” will take his racing talents back to the Volunteer State this Saturday night, June 20, as Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee will greet the cars and stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The 2nd Annual ‘Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic’ will be held at the Knoxville-area speedplant this weekend and a $10,000 top prize will be up for grabs. Additional information on the one-day program, which will be headlined by a 50-lap feature event, can be found online by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.
