Ponderosa Speedway’s Weekend Warrior June 19/Pete Abell Memorial June 20 Postponed
Junction City, KY-June 19, 2015- Ponderosa Speedway was set to return to action with a Friday/Saturday doubleheader of racing action this weekend, but Mother Nature has decided to not be a race fan for this weekend, forcing track promoter Jerry Denson to postpone both events scheduled for this weekend June 19 and June 20 at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”.
Heavy rains would fall on the track and grounds at Ponderosa Speedway for an extended period of time late Thursday afternoon and some more showers would move through the area early Friday morning. With more rains being predicted by local weather forecasts for midday Friday and Friday afternoon and evening, along with the most of the day on Saturday as a result of the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill and the threat of flooding taking place, the track has opted to postpone the racing events scheduled for weekend.
The 5th Annual Weekend Warrior event has been rescheduled for Friday June 26, with the Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Models racing for $800 to win and the Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks racing for $600 to win. Also on the Friday June 26 racing program will be a full racing program for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds, and Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclones, plus there will be Spectator Drags during intermission, with the winner getting $50 courtesy of Smalltown Auto Sales. The 18th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event will be rescheduled at a later date and that date will be announced as soon as the make-up date is determined.
