By Chris Tilley

TAZEWELL, TN (June 21, 2015)—The Mid-Season Championships will be the next event on the 50th Anniversary Schedule for the high banks of Tazewell Speedway this coming Saturday Night June 27th.

As a special treat for each of the track’s divisional point leaders, trophies will be handed out to the top driver in each class and the June 27th event will feature double points racing action for all divisions including the Tazewell Limited Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Classic Cars, Super Stocks and Four Cylinders. The Super Stocks will race the June 27th and July 3rd events under Fall Brawl rules but anyone that doesn’t run the 8 inch tires must run a tail piece. That is the only difference in Fall Brawl rules for these events.

Current point leaders in each division are as follows: Josh Collins in the Limited Late Models, Clyde Overholt in the Late Model Sportsman, Jamie Whitt in the KDRA-sanctioned Super Stocks, Philip Thompson in the Classics and Bubby Braden in the Four Cylinders.

The Pit & Grandstand Gates will open at 5:00 pm Saturday June 27th. The driver’s meeting is slated for 6:45 pm. Wheel packing will begin at 7:15 and Hot Laps will roll out around 7:45 pm. Grandstand Admission is only $10.00 (Children the age of 9 and younger are admitted free with a paying adult) while Pit Admission is $25.00 and $15.00 for children 12 and under.

Coming up on Friday Night July 3rd will be the Independence Day Weekend special event featuring the $3,050-to-win and $175-to-start Steel Head Championship race for the Tazewell Limited Late Models plus racing in Late Model Sportsman ($700-to-win) and Super Stocks with Fall Brawl rules ($500-to-win).

June 13 winners at Tazewell Speedway included: Dakotah Knuckles of Ewing, Va. who claimed his first-career Tazewell Limited Late Model victory, Matt Tharp in the Late Model Sportsman, Jamie Whitt in the Super Stock Feature event, Chuck McMahan in the Four Cylinders and Philip Thompson in the Classic Feature event.
