Ray Cook Climbs to Podium Finish in Independence Day Celebration at Rome

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) After a couple of rain-outs in the Peach State on Friday and Saturday, Ray Cook finally got another race into the record books on Sunday evening, June 28 at Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia. The unsanctioned 'Independence Day Celebration' show was held at the "World's Fastest Half Mile Clay Track" and a $3,000 top prize was on the line.

Ray knocked down the seventh fastest lap during the qualifying session, which locked him into the inside of the fourth row for the start of the 40-lap headliner. The Brasstown, North Carolina ace then drove his #53 Capital machine past four competitors during the feature to claim a strong third place effort behind only victor Dale McDowell and runner-up Jason Hiett. Complete results from Rome Speedway can be accessed online at www.raceromespeedway.com.

The popular driver known as the “Tarheel Tiger” is scheduled to take the upcoming 4th of July holiday weekend off from racing action, but he will be busy promoting a trio of big events in the states of North Carolina and Georgia. The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will preside over a pair of shows this Friday at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina and on Saturday at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia. On Sunday evening, the Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals tour will then sanction a rain-postponed $6,000 to win special at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia. More information on the huge holiday triple shot in the Southeast can be viewed by clicking on www.southernnationalsseries.com.
