Shane Clanton Claims Emotional Win in Billy Clanton Memorial

Zebulon, Georgia (07/07/15) –Shane Clanton has enjoyed a phenomenal 2015 season thus far in his Weldbank Energy #25 Capital/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model, and on Saturday night it became even more special when he claimed the win in the Billy Clanton Memorial, which paid homage to his late father.

“We’ve had a tremendous year so far, and we’ve won some big races, but this one right here is the most special,” an emotional Clanton said in victory lane. “To win the race that carries my dad’s name is really something, and it’s a victory that I wanted really badly.” He concluded by saying, “This win is for all of my family, friends, and fans here tonight.”

On Saturday night Shane Clanton made the short trip to Senoia Raceway (Ringgold, Georgia) to take part in the Billy Clanton Memorial, which was sanctioned by the Southern Nationals Bonus Series. With rain in the forecast, Shane started the night by registering the fastest time in qualifying, which locked him into the pole for the feature. The finale found Shane cruising to his eleventh victory of the season with Joe Armistead Jr., Mark Whitener, Clint Smith, and Austin Smith rounding out the top five. Clanton captured a $4,025 payday for his efforts in the A-Main event that was shortened six laps due to the weather.
