CARTERSVILLE, GA – After Week 17 of the 2015 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies season, the Top 6 drivers have reached the 14 week mark of the their respective seasons, with the probability of four more getting there in Week 18 competition. Point leader Richie Stephens of Salem, AL won his 14th race of the season, but three other drivers are on the move for title contention.

Stephens drove the Rocketman Race Cars Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to victory on Friday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS to bring his best 14 week total to 689 points. Stephens has 18 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 23 races, and he will be trying to net on a 41 in Week 18 action.

When it comes to Weekly Point Averages, there is one driver with a better WPA that Stephens’ 49.21 out of a possible 50. Brooks Strength of Raymond, MS drove the Sauls Farm Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to his seventh and eighth wins of the season on Saturday night in Double Features at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS.

Strength is 12th in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 547 points, but he has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings at 49.73. Strength also has another three weeks to earn full points, and the potential to set his best 14 week point total at 697, or three points away from a perfect season score of 700 points.

Another driver that has shown up on the Top 20 radar screen after Week 17 competition is Sean Goodwin of Pensacola, FL. After winning both NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Double Features on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Goodwin has landed in the 19th spot of the standings with 438 points, the third highest WPA at 48.67, and five more weeks to earn full points.

Branden Harris of Molino, FL stayed in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Championship hunt with his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL driving the Coastal Engine and Machine Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Harris is second in the standings with a best 14 week total of 671 points after six wins, 13 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 17 races. Harris has the fourth highest WPA at 47.93 and he will be trying to not on a 41.

The Week 18 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division schedule of events shows five races in three different states with the highlighted race of the weekend on Friday night and four races on Saturday night. The NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division will co-sanction with the Mississippi Street Stock Series with the 3rd Annual Dixie 50 paying $1,000-to-win on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS.

Saturday night NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 18 races are scheduled for Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

In looking at the rest of the Top 10 in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings, David Williamson of Seminary, MS holds the fourth spot with a best 14 week total of 635 points after eight top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 15 races. Williamson has the tenth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the points chase at 45.36, and he will be trying to net on a 41. Williamson finished seventh on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway driving the Sauls Farm Ford.

Bo Bailey of Milton, FL is fifth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 623 points after two wins, 12 top five finishes, and 15 top ten finishes in 16 races. Bailey had a pair of Top 10 finishes in the Double Features on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in the L&L Construction Services Chevrolet. Bailey will be trying to net on a 39 in Week 18 competition.

Bubba McGhee of Atmore, AL is sixth in the standings with 598 points, and he reached the 14 week mark of his season with a fourth-place finish on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in the MEC Trucking Chevrolet. McGhee has five top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 15 races. McGhee will be trying to net on a 25.

Kevin Mitchell of Pensacola, FL is seventh in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 594 points after one win, seven top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 13 races over 13 weeks. Mitchell drove the Guy Brothers Roofing Chevrolet to a pair of Top 5 finishes on Saturday night in the Double Features at Southern Raceway. Mitchell has the 6th highest WPA at 45.69 and he has one more week to earn full points.

Jay Geddie of Ellisville, MS drove the Geddie Tree Service Chevrolet to a third-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway, and is eighth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 593 points. Geddie has seven top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 13 races over 13 weeks. Geddie has the eighth highest WPA at 45.62, and he has one more week to earn full points.

Larry Faulk of Monroeville, AL is ninth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 590 points after one win, nine top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 15 races over 13 weeks. Faulk finished second on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in the Faulk Motorsports Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Faulk has the ninth highest WPA at 45.38 and he has one more week to earn full points.

Steve Pate of Heflin, AL drove the Pate Racing Chevrolet to his second NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track and he now rounds out the Top 10 in the standings with 564 points. Pate has two wins and 13 top five finishes in 13 races over 12 weeks. Pate has the fifth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the points chase at 47, and he has two more weeks to earn full points.

In other NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 17 action, Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS drove the Wilson Racing Chevrolet to victory on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. John Smartt of Manchester, TN was the winner on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, TN in the Frontline Race Cars Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engine.

Lee Ray of Columbus, MS took his first NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the Rent A Space Chevrolet. A total of 275 different drivers have earned NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division points in the first 17 weeks of the 2015 season.

Drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27. The $5,000 National point fund will pay $2,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.
