Increased Start Money & Bonuses for UFo “Sam Barley Championship” at Dog Hollow on August 7
(Mars, PA) The “New” UFo Championship will return to the Dog Hollow Speedway for the third time this year on Friday, August 7. The “Sam Barley Championship will pay $3,000 to the winner of the UFo Super Late Model feature. The event will now feature increased start money and bonuses for the UFo Super Late Models.
The Barley family has obtained sponsorship to increase the payoff for the 41 lap UFo Super Late Model feature to $300 for 24th. The sponsors will also pay $100 to the hard charger in the feature race. American Racer/Lias Tire and Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic/Precise racing will also award a pair of their brand tires to the highest finisher on the same brand tire in the event.
The “Sam Barley Championship” pays tribute to the late model car owner that had drivers such as Johnny Grum, Brian Weyandt, Tom Eriksen, Mike Altobelli, Keith Barbara, Andy Fries, Dwayne Tanneyhill and Rick Singletown behind the wheel. The UFo Super Late Models will compete in a 41-lap feature at Dog Hollow. CARS Crate Late Models, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Sidewinder four cylinders will also be in competition August 7. The excellent surface at Dog Hollow has consistently been producing three and four wide racing this year.
In 2015, UFo events at Dog Hollow have averaged 34.5 Super Late Models. The average UFo winner’s starting position at the track is 14th, with Dylan Yoder winning from 20th in June and Jared Miley winning from 8th in July. Dog Hollow has become a Friday night Super Late Model power in the region, with large fields of cars at every race this season. Dog Hollow has also stepped up their Super Late Model program featuring five championship events for the season including the “ThunderDog Showdown” fall mega-event at the end of September.
The 2015 battle for the UFo Championship is close and every finishing position will be important in the remaining events. Devin Friese of Chambersburg, PA is the 4th driver to lead the 2015 point race, now with a 13.5 point lead over Justin Kann of Huntingdon, PA. Yoder of Selinsgrove, PA, trails Kann by just 5 points. Michael Altobelli, Jr. of Saxton, PA is just 2 points behind Yoder. These four drivers have consistently finished together in 2015 events. Andy Fries of Mercersburg, PA sits in 5th. The UFo “Sam Barley Championship” will include bargain family pricing with no increase in that ticket package from regular shows. A family with two adults and two children between ages 7-12 will be admitted for $30 including two hot dogs and two drinks. A family with two adults and three children between agest 7-12 can purchase a ticket for $35 including three hot dogs and three drinks. Students 13-17 will be admitted for $8 and children 7-12 will be admitted for $6, which represents the same pricing as a weekly show.
Special event ticket pricing will apply to other ticket prices. Grandstand admission will be $17 and senior citizens $15. All pit passes will be $32. Super Late Model entry fee will be $25, which will be deducted from final payoff from the track. Pit gates will open at 4:30, with grandstands at 6:00 and racing at 7:30. Pill draw cutoff and drivers meeting will be approximately 7:00.
