Thinking of going to Smokey Mountain speedway Friday for the Southern Nationals.
Will be my first time there and wondering what to expect.
Car count, and big names? Facilities, seating, where to stay (4 hour drive) . Thanks in advance!

I've always enjoyed the trips to SMS. Racing from top to bottom; and fast. We usually sit in the wooden bleachers in turn 1. Go visit Full Service BBQ in Maryville, you won't regret it. Get the ribs and two banana puddings. Enjoy.

Should get around 25 cars tomorrow night, maybe a couple more. Depends on what you consider a big name, most of them from around here are in Wisconsin this weekend. It'll still be a solid field.

went to boyds Tuesday in chatt. no superstars except for Dillon brothers. one heck of a race. don't need the biggest names to have a good show

Randy Weaver, Casey Roberts, Billy Ogle Jr were all at Boyds. Year in and year out these guys beat the best in the game in the south. Not to mention Ronnie Johnson and Riley Hickman were there, I would hate to go up against those guys any night.
