Meade, Watson, Stewart, Moore, and Bland Weekend Warrior Winners at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY-August 1, 2015- Ponderosa Speedway would present another special Saturday evening racing program with the 5th Annual Weekend Warrior event taking place and Connor Meade of Clay City, KY would be victorious in the Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Model division and score the $1,000 payday. Other feature winners included Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY in Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds, Eddie Stewart of Manchester, KY in Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks, Brian Moore of Clarksville, IN in Four Cylinders, and Cole Bland of Campbellsville, KY in Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclones.

Wesley Brummett would lead the first nine laps of the 35 lap Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Model contest before fourth place starting Connor Meade would take the lead at the start/finish line on lap 10. Meade would stretch his lead out until caution waved on lap 18 for slowed Perry Barnhardt on the backchute. The restart would see Meade hold the lead, while Zane Powell and 13th starting Timmy Yeager would battle for second. Elliott Despain would draw the next caution on lap 23 after he slowed in turn one. Back underway, Powell and Yeager resumed their battle for second behind leader Meade, with Yeager finally taking the spot on lap 28. The final caution flew for a Clayton Spradlin spin on lap 31. Meade would hold off the hold charges of Yeager in the final few circuits to take the win aboard the James Meade owned Jay Construction and Restoration/Performance Bodies sponsored #1 Club 29 Race Car, Hendren GM604 powered entry. Yeager and Powell would finish second and third, while Remington Gill and Jeff Alsip completed the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Darrell Gaddis, Brian Royalty, Jerry Ellis, Brummett, and Chad Spradlin. Eighteen entries would see Meade as top qualifier at 14.450 seconds, while heat race wins went to Brummett, Powell, and Gaddis.

Jeff Watson would take the lead at the start of the Sweet Beans and Things Modified feature and would have Tommy Bailey and David Webb nipping at his heels. Bailey would pull alongside Watson on lap 9, but Watson would keep the lead. As the leaders began to work slower traffic, trouble would occur for Bailey and Webb as the pair would get involved in a spin with a lapped car in turn one and draw the caution, resulting in both drivers having to restart at the rear of the field. Watson would survive one more caution and drive away to the win behind the wheel of his Brad Burton Dairy Farms/ Shofner Enterprises sponsored #11 Tomahawk Race Car with a Frank Ofria Race Engine. Brent Denny would take runner-up honors, while Bailey would charge back through the field to finish third. Shawn Hibbard and Matthew Jordan completed the top five. Rounding out the top ten would be Trevor Thompson, Webb, Tim Patrick, Joseph Husband, and Korey Cochran. Thirteen entries would see Webb as top qualifier at 15.382 seconds, while heat wins fell to Watson and Bailey.

The Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks would race for $600 to win and Eddie Stewart would lead the event wire-to-wire to pick up the victory in his Matthews Well Service/WeGo the Dog/Stewart Race Cars sponsored #119 mount. Glen Hounshell, Jr. would score runner-up honors with his second place run, while Bartley Grant completed the podium finishers for this feature event. Johnny King would settle for fourth, while Terry Cheeks would finish fifth. Completing the top ten would be Danny Blackwell, Scott Short, David Murphy, Scott Beeler, and Bill Robinson. Seventeen entries would see Stewart as be top qualifier at 15.807 seconds and also win a heat, with Logan Preston victorious in the other heat.

The Four Cylinder feature event would be a dandy as Freddy Breeden led the first four laps before Clint Cox would take the lead on lap five. Cox would hold the lead until lap 10 when on a restart his machine made contact with the retaining wall in turn two. This would give the lead to Robert Minton, but Minton would surrender the lead to Brian Moore as the field took the white flag and Moore would nip Minton at the checkered flag by less than a half-car length to score the win in his T&W Motorsports/Craig’s Signs sponsored #67 Chevy Cavalier. Minton would finish second, with Tyler Hayes coming home third. Breeden and Dylan Stevens would complete the top five. Nine entries would see Breeden win the heat.

Cole Bland would lead flag-to-flag to visit victory lane in the Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclone division by leading all 10 laps in his Wilson Plumbing/Kent Bland Logging/Nolley Auto Sales/Win Smith Enterprises sponsored #44 mount. Jason Bell would sneak past Scott Crusenberry at the checkered flag to finish second, with Crusenberry finishing third. Bland would also win the heat.
