SEYMOUR, TN – Tim Busha of Boaz, AL was in the right place at the right time on Saturday night to win the 50-lap Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model feature race at 411 Motor Speedway driving the Kilpatrick Racing GRT. It was a race that Busha felt like he was going to have to settle for second with ten laps to go, but opportunity came knocking.
Busha took the lead on lap 45 after the dominant early race leader John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN began to slow off the pace on lap 44, and steam from what seemed to be a punctured radiator from an earlier tangle with a lapped car sent him to the infield. Busha then hung on after a late-race restart to take the $3,000 victory and his third career Chevy Super Series win.
Cory Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) of Lenoir City, TN finished second in the Eagle Racing Engines Rocket. Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) and Busha spent the majority of the race battling for second, and trading the inside and the outside for several Dixie-Style Double-File restarts.
“I hate what happened to Ownbey because Cory and I didn’t have anything for him tonight, but a win is a win, and we’ll take them anyway we can get them,” Busha said. “Cory and I had our own little battle going on for second on the restarts. We both tried the inside and outside. Sometimes the outside would work one time, and the next time it wouldn’t. Then we would take turns trying the inside, with the same results.”

Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN made of bold last lap move on Jake Knowles of Rome, GA to finish third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Special and Knowles took the fourth spot in the Coosa Heating and Cooling Rocket. Tyler Crowder of Lamont, FL was fifth in the Crowder Excavating Special.
Johnson now has a 14-point lead over Crowder in quest of his second straight Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series $10,000 National Championship. The win moved Busha up to the third spot in the point’s chase ahead of Adam Martin of Talladega, AL, who finished 12th in the Seals Insurance Special and was the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Race.
After missing time trials with a fuel pump belt issue, Pierce McCarter of Gatlinburg, TN started 21st and finished sixth in the McCarter Lumber CVR to earn the Hard Charger of the Race honors. Jadon Frame of Winchester, TN drove the Poultry Electric/Pro Hardware Special to a seventh-place finish.

David Brannon of Elora, TN came back from an early race pit stop to take the eighth spot in the Elora Gin Company Special and Oliver Gentry of Newnan, GA was ninth in the Gentry Used Auto Parts and Recycling Rocket. Brad Coffey of Maryville, TN rounded out the top ten in the Coffey Racing Warrior.
Ownby set fast time honors in the Auto Deport Special with a lap around the 3/8-mile clay oval in 13.806 seconds to earn the pole position for the 50-lap main event in quest of his second-straight Chevy Super Series win. Ownbey had Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word), Adam Martin, Busha, Brannon, Ross Martin, Kilgore, Knowles, Coffey and Brandon Williams of Crossville, TN in the Swallows Produce Special doubled up behind him for the restart.
Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) chose the inside for the Dixie-Style Double-File restart and when the green flag was redisplayed, Adam Martin sailed by him on the outside coming off the second turn to take the second spot. Kilgore spun out of the seventh spot on lap six in turn two for the second caution period that saw Brannon head for the pit area and giving up the fifth spot.
The outside worked so well for Martin on the last restart, that’s what he chose as the second-place driver for the next restart. Ownbey had cars to his outside and had nowhere to go, and plowed into the back of Sparks’ car, sending it spinning to the infield.

It looked Ownbey was going to make it two in the row, but suddenly on lap 43, it appeared that Ownbey was slowing coming off the corners, and Busha was closing fast.
Ownbey pulled to the infield on lap 45 with steam bellowing out of his radiator, and Busha took the lead. With a full straightaway lead on Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word), it looked like Busha would coast home for the win. But the seventh and final caution flag came out on lap 48 when Rusty Ballenger of Sevierville, TN in the East Tennessee Metal Special and Adam Martin tangled in turn three.
No choosing this time because the race was inside the ten laps to go point, so it was a single-file restart. Busha hit his marks in the final three laps, but the show in the final laps was the battle between Knowles and Johnson for the third spot. On lap 49, Johnson went to the top shelf in an effort to sail around the outside of Knowles in turn four.
Knowles drifted high off the fourth turn in front of Johnson, who made an abrupt hard left, and pulled off the crossover maneuver to dive under Knowles coming off the fourth turn and claim the third spot.
