Rodney Sanders Rolls to First USMTS Hunt Win of 2015

Happy, Texas (08/19/15) – Rodney Sanders powered his Swan Energy #20 MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified to his 21st victory of the season with a win in the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup event at Red Cedar Speedway.

On Thursday night Rodney Sanders headed to Red Cedar Speedway (Menomonie, Wisconsin) for the fifth night of action in the Hunt for United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Casey’s Cup presented by S&S Fishing & Rental. Winning his heat from 3rd, Sanders transferred into the feature event in the 2nd starting spot. Battling for a $3,000 payday, Rodney cruised to his 21st victory of the season leading all 40 laps. Jason Hughes, Jesse Sobbing, Jake Hartung, and Brent Larson followed Sanders to the finish line.

The following night brought Sanders to Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) for another round of action in the Hunt for the Casey’s Cup sanctioned by the USMTS. Drawing a field of 32 cars, Rodney edged his way into the feature event with a 3rd place outing in his heat. Starting in 8th, Rodney Sanders advanced four positions in the 40-lapper, finishing behind Zack VanderBeek, Jason Hughes, and Jesse Sobbing with Dereck Ramirez rounding out the top five.(not a nice word)

Rodney traveled to Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) on Saturday for night seven of the Hunt for the Casey’s Cup. Transferring into the feature with a 2nd place outing in his heat, Sanders earned the 2nd starting spot for the finale. Battling for a $3,000 payday in the Casey’s General Stores A-Main, Rodney Sanders fell three positions retiring a 5th place finish behind Stormy Scott, Jason Hughes, Ben Kates, and Zack VanderBeek.(not a nice word)

The USMTS Hunt for the Casey’s Cup roars forward this weekend with a pair of events in Kansas and Oklahoma. On Friday evening the tour rolls into Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) before sanctioning an event at Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Oklahoma) on Saturday evening.
