Final 2015 ULTIMATE Super Visit to Modoc Raceway this Saturday, September 12th
Modoc, South Carolina (September 9, 2015) - The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will make their final visit to the 4/10ths of a mile Modoc Raceway this Saturday, September 12th. Saturday night's A-main will be 40 laps and pays $4000 to the winner. In the last ULTIMATE visit to Modoc Chris Ferguson of Mt. Holly, North Carolina took the Jack Starrette Memorial win. Track promoter Edward Cushman is anxious to welcome the Super Late Models back to Modoc. "We had a little bit of a dust problem the last time that the ULTIMATE Supers were here. But we have really worked hard and figured out what the problem was that caused the track to get so dusty. So we are ready to get these guys back and give them and our race fans a good surface and good racing." Cushman said.
"We are very happy to get back to Modoc. The Cushman family has been supporters of the series since day one and we are proud to have such a great relationship with them. I don't know anybody that works any harder on their track. Edward works his full time job and then comes out to the track and works until late at night. They genuinely care about their racers and fans and only want to give them the best that they can every time they open the gates. We hope that the community and all the area fans will come out and support them and enjoy a good show." added ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Director Kelley Carlton.
2-time ULTIMATE champion Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Georgia sits atop the 2015 championship standings with defending champion Dennis "Rambo" Franklin of Gaffney, South Carolina giving chase in 2nd. Roberts leads the series in 2015 victories with 4 but the career ULTIMATE win leader has been shut out of the series victory lane since May. "We have never been really good at Modoc. So I hope we can go there this week and get that turned around. Our car owners also own the track and it would be real nice to be able to get a win at their place. We have had a good car all year everywhere we have been. We have led a lot but we have let a few get away from us. Hopefully we can get this one." said Roberts.
Franklin has yet to crack the ULTIMATE Series victory lane in 2015 but in Modoc he sees one of his best opportunities. "We have been really good at Modoc. That is the first place we won at when we switched to the Longhorn cars. We have a pretty good win record. We had won like 3 in a row there until that last Jack Starrette Memorial and we finished 2nd in that one to Ferguson. So I feel like we are one of the cars to beat this weekend. It's time. We need one for M&W Transport and Carl Sherwood. He gives everything we need to race with and Modoc is pretty close to him so that gives us that much more motivation to get a win Saturday." added Franklin.
Modoc Raceway is located at 1133 Washington School Road in Modoc, South Carolina. In addition to the headlining ULTIMATE Super Late Models the card will also include racing in Crate Late Models, Super Streets, Stock V-8s, Super Stock 4s and Xtreme 4s.
