(Rural Retreat, Virginia) - This weekend’s events for the FASTRAK Racing Series Southeast/Mid-Ohio Valley/National Touring Division is our Labor Day weekend 2015 closeout to summer. The East Coast Rumble featuring over $45,000+ dollars on the line is monster dirt extravaganza not to miss to close out summer and approach quicker the “Road to Jamaica Tour” for the World Championship held September 18th and 19th at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway for “The Super Bowl of PRO Late Model Racing”. Where it all started a dozen years ago the famed incredible half mile Wythe Raceway nestled in the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia celebrated a the final visit of the FASTRAK racing series with the $3000 to win Pro Late Model Nationals in front of a packed house. Tennessee native Jensen Ford in the TNT chassis #83 was able to be back in FASTRAK victory lane after a near five year absence after taking a Grand Nationals win in 2010.

After 33 competitors attempted to make the dance the 25 best locked in for the race that would get underway with a couple of local drivers #11 Trevor Cregger and #33 Brent Hilton on the front row at the drop of the green. Hilton would break out in front on the early opening circuits however caution would come out on lap 6 when #8 Mike Ayers and #79 Billy Hicks tangled hard exiting turn 4. In the same chaos #77 Joel Prosser the defending MOV touring champion would suffer mechanical issues ending his Sunday. The field would then come back for the restart and #11 Cregger would make his move to the front holding off #33 Hilton who got crossed up in traffic exiting turn two causing him to loose several positions. The Hilton slip would cause #12 Brandon Umberger, #8 Ron Parker and others to surpass him. Caution would fall again after #24 Matthew Nance would hit the wall to cut down a tire stalling off turn two.

After a Red Flag period for halting the race would get back underway with Cregger, Umberger and company all through the field racing around the ˝ mile facility 3-4 wide bringing the “Wythe Faithful” to their feet. Joe Martin from PA would cause another caution with after getting cross checked with a lap car on the front straightaway ending up hard in the wall. Martin would walk away okay but night was over. Then after the caution on the same lap 21 on the restart #42 Cla Knight was battling in the pack exiting off turn four and after contact Knight would hit the wall severely exiting turn four. Knight was very agitated with frustration but walked away okay. All the while the field running down Cregger. On the restart the slip would happen by the leader into turn one and veteran Wythe Raceway driver Umberger was able to capitalize. Exiting turn two Umberger would take it to the top and by the time they reached the line he’d change lanes to clear the bottom to take the spot, however he’d bring Parker, and another #12 Ryan Montgomery with him.

The finish of the race would come to a close with shades of how the May (triple crown) battle was with Umberger and Parker in a battle of wits to see could survive the half mile that was extremely fast. Disaster would come for the #11 Cregger after an impressive run and then being taken by Umberger, Parker and Hilton he’d fall to the back losing ground to the leaders and then trying to hold off #30 Tyler Bare for the however contact would be made for the yellow to fly for the final time but both cars continued, it was revealed that Cregger used up his tires trying to get that elusive first touring victory. On the restart #83 Jensen Ford who started 4th but was in striking distance the entire time jumped into the battle with Umberger and Parker. In the closing laps while they would battle side by side Ford made his move going to the top of the racetrack to get by them and then basically pull away from his competition to take the checkered flag in the remaining laps to take a FASTRAK National Tour victory after a 5 year absence. Umberger and Parker would take the top three spots while Ryan Montgomery and Daniel Baggerly rounded out the top five finisher in a nail bitter event at the ˝ mile. Ford would become the 10th different winner in 12 season’s past to take the Pro Late Model Nationals champion title.
