Wasn't at the dream. I thought they were supposed to put in a permanent tower but I guess not

I got some coverage at the Dream, but the signal was not great.

I was there for kings royal in late July. A friend of mine has Verizon, his phone worked, but it was hit and miss.

I almost wish phones wouldn't work up there at all. I got another friend that goes to the races and stares at his phone whole the races are going on, drives me nuts.

I was there this past Sunday and stood on top of the infield care center and managed to get some spotty service. It was good enough to send text updates to my buddy but that's about it.

The closest permanent Sprint 'tower' is around 4 miles away - and is in the middle of nowhere. If someone got signal in the infield of the track, Sprint has either A: turned the power all the way up on the sector pointing towards the track, or B: brought in a COW (cell on wheels) just for the World 100. Difficult to say either way unless you physically see the COW on grounds.

A little surprised that VZW never moved ahead with plans for the permanent site, but not that surprised. Towers are expensive to operate - might be a situation for most cell provides where the juice is not worth the squeeze.

Hey now, don't let facts get in the way of a hasty generalization.
