Just makes me wonder if the payout was less to the winner and more to everyone else would draw more drivers. Would like to here this from the Drivers and car owners. Instead of $40,000 to Win using Knoxville for example:
25,000, 20,000, 15,000, 12,500, 10,000, 9000, 8000, 7000, 6500, 6000, 5500, 5000, 4500, 4000, 3750, 3500, 3250, and $3000 to start. $187,500 based on 30 cars

$7000 to win night 1 and 2 like it is now so you can still win $39,000 winning all three.

Does it really matter? I'm sure you would find a reason to complain. The same cars that make the show at Knoxville are the same cars that make world a couple weeks prior, for the most part. What else do you want? 200 cars to show? You MIGHT get 80-100 quality cars then. There's too much other things going on around different parts of the states to get these big car counts. No matter what the pay is to win, and throughout the field. The big car count days are gone.....and they won't ever be back. Be thankful you get to see the ones you see now and be done with it, cuz I sure am.

I think payouts should remain top heavy but I wish they would pay better on back. The only way to do that is to get sponsorship support but no one is able to do that, it ain't an easy thing to do obviousley but with the crowds seemingly growing at the crown jewels and most of the national tours selling well I would think increases are coming or at least would hope. It's all sponsors though we need that but you don't see it at the big shows even the world. Not sure how you'd get them to put up the money but that's the only way I see it happening. I think the WoO sprint series has good backing and better payouts. At least I know the Knoxville sprint nationals pays $150k to win not sure how their payout is through the field but I bet it's better than any late model race

To compile your thoughts maybe a $40,000 sponsor to win and add that to the top of this payout. No ones complaining just wondering.

You guys pay 50 bucks watch the race and go home .... Why do you give a fuc what 17th place at Knoxville pays ??? Do u realize how far a guy like fergy or Clanton are from Knoxville ??? Do you understand the cost to get there and back when there is 5-10k to win shows in their back yard at tracks way easier on equiptment with way less competition ??? The best guys in the world were at Knoxville for the current pay ... Beyond that why do you care ??

Because we/they choose to care just like you choose to care about stuff that isn't much to do with your existence. Do you need a hug?

To me, it's not the A-main purse that needs a bump, it's the B-mains and such. If you can get the B-main (and eventually the C-main to guarantee a minimum of $1000, you will see more cars show up at big races.

Bumping up the guys that are already getting paid (not necessarily great $$, but they get a check) isn't going to increase car counts by a whole lot (the same 35 cars are still vying for the 30 starting spots).

It's getting that next level of racer to show up (the ones that are pretty decent and can win at their home track, but aren't a threat at the big races). To get them, you have to bump up the purses of the B-mains and other preliminaries.

I think the reason the Knoxville Sprint Nationals gets the car count it does is due to the payout in the preliminary mains as well. $8000 to finish 5th in the B main for example. $2000 to finish 5th in the C-main.

2015 Purse for Saturday Night of the Sprint Nationals is below. Notice that only 45 finishing positions (in all races) pay less than $1000 and of those, 8 transfer on to the next race guaranteeing themselves over $1000 in prize $ that night.

I care because I like to see these guys make money and come back and keep racing. If Clanton or Fergy come they can win 10k for 20th and a chance at 40k they'll come. Regardless if those two make the trip I would still like to see a guy like K Rob or Diemel or one of the Eckrich's or some other unknown guy make the show, get a good payday and be able to use that money to put into his car so they can be better and maybe give the big guns a run for their money. I guess to me it's not about car counts its about getting more money in the sport so guys like Brady Smith or Birky or Matt Miller Darren Miller Schlieper etc etc etc not have to retire because of money. It's us wanting to always see these guys when we go to a big race

Charge 300 to get in and if you pack the place they might afford to pay 10k for 20th. If Davensnort smoked hogs under a local bridge , Rumley worked a real engineering job and old man Rumley built motors they would all end up with double in their pockets at the end of the year than they will have with the most prolific season in DLM history. The money that tracks would have to pay to make this profitable just isn't possible !!

Well, they could get some sponsors( which they already do) to help subsidize the payout.....

kind of like what you do in getting sponsors for your dlm series........only difference is that your series being the driveway late model series, your sponsors are your neighbors kids lemonade stand.

Must be because you let them win on their big wheel every now and again.........

Anything is possible hucky.........with the glaring exception of you ever being taken seriously about anything you say.

As a crew member, I can say we as a team have discussed this before. Everyone is under the same consensus. While second place shouldn't be cut in half from the winner, to cut the winning pay down by thousands to spread it through the field, and pay maybe a couple hundred extra per spot, isn't something we'd like to see. I'd rather go to a race knowing that if I'm on my game, I've got a chance at winning a substantial amount, than go to a race knowing I'll make an extra $125 if I finish 10th. We're all here to win.

As a FAN, I agree, they shouldn't cut the winning pay to spread it through the field, but instead of when they increase the event purse instead of only adding $$$ to the "to win" spot, they should instead add that $$$$ through the field IMO. or at the very least say we have another $5000 that we can add to the purse, we are going to increase winning $1000, but the other $4000 is going to 2nd place on back to help them out so maybe they can come back next year.
