Billy Moyer Set for Rare Weekend Off Following Knoxville Late Model Nationals
(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) invaded the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa from September 24-26 for the 12th edition of the 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals,' which was once again sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Things kicked off at the 1/2-mile Marion County fairgrounds speedplant with a pair of $7,000 to win preliminary shows. On Thursday night, Billy Moyer - who announced his semi-retirement leading into the weekend - finished second in his heat race and seventeenth in the 25-lap sprint.
At Knoxville on Friday evening, Billy ran fifth in both his heat race and the B-Main prior to advancing up to sixteenth in the 25-lapper. By virtue of racking up the sixteenth most points during the preliminary programs, Billy started Saturday's 100-lap headliner from the outside of the eighth row. The Batesville, Arkansas Hall of Famer then moved forward during the $40,000 to win 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals' on his way to a respectable eleventh place showing - despite pitting to correct an overheating car on lap 31.
