This is nuts. The DTWC came from the hills of west by god VA and alcohol was a part of the experience. Hope the racin is good to make up for this lol.

You can throw a rock and hit the first carry out outside the race track. It's not that far to go get some if needed.

It will re open, and I'm right there with you on that! Nothing wrong with Portsmouth, I go to the DTWC every year but it doesn't seem the same since it left the boro.

If they reopen Pennsboro, they better widen the track, and add some lights. No one wants to see single file lock down daytime train races. I understand the attachment that many, including yourself, have for the facility and the memories. That being said, the best way to honor the past would be to build a surface that befits the DTWC and Hillbilly coming back permanently.

They are making improvements to the facility. There have been people at the track every day this summer. Concrete walls all the way around, inside and out. Bleachers sitting 4,000 people plus terrace hillside seating like WVMS. New restrooms and shower houses, and lights will come before they race. They are also looking to change the track some to improve the racing.

Sounds great. With the cars of today (increased bite and HP), they better change the configuration or widen it. Just my .02, but spending all the money to fix the amenities will be for naught if they provide the same type of track that existed in the past.

I like to toss back a few beers at the races, but I'm there for the races. If a track is dry, so be it. Coke or Pepsi is just as refreshing.

Oh I will be there but theres no sense in not being able to drink inside. Others tracks in Ohio atleast sell it inside without carrying in or out. Ahh well..

You see plenty of beer cans in the trash cans. Get your own and stuff it in your pockets. There's plenty of carry outs in Portsmouth. PRP is in West Portsmouth (dry)

How hard is it to walk out to the parking lot to drink or smuggle it in in your pockets? People will find any reason to complain.

People will find any reason to complain.Easily done... get one or two "easier with two" 44-32 oz styrofoam cup with top. fill one with ice, open beer can place in empty cup, put ice around beer can, then put straw in beer can, snap the top on. Sit back enjoy the race and repeat steps when need a refil ;)
