Gettin' ready to head to the 30th running of The Chili Bowl. Personally this one will be #5.

344 cars, 5 nights of racing in front of a sold out crowd every night.

I read recently that 85% of all the tickets sold for The Chili Bowl are sold to people who do not live in Oklahoma. AMAZING!! Using the 11,000 spectator capacity as a guideline and every night is sold out, which it is, 105,000 people will attend the 5 nights of racing. And that's not counting the people who buy pit passes and watch it on the jumbo-tron.

Sorry World Hundred, sorry Dream, sorry Knoxville Late Model Nationals! The Chili Bowl IS THE BIGGEST DIRT RACE OF THE YEAR, BY FAR.

I understand that already on opening night early on in the feature Kyle Larson had the lead and established himself as the class of the field.

Rr, Larson was pretty fast Tuesday night but he's been put in a big hole going into Saturday nights action. He had a backmarker spin right in front of him and he stopped on the track and was relegated to the tail of the field. Although Larson recovered to 9th he's going to need a bunch of luck to get into Saturday night's A-main.

It was questionable as to wether he would have finished in the top 3 in Tuesday nights' A-main anyway. Larson was being hotly pursued by eventual winner Alex Bright and 2nd and 3rd place finishers Joey Saldana and Zack Daum.

It would have been extremely interesting if Larson had remained up front because it was a dog fight from the time of Larson's troubles to the end of the A-main.

What a great night of racing. The bar has been set pretty high for the rest of the week. If the remaining nights of racing lives up to the standards of Tuesday night this is going to be a hell of a week of racing!!
