Winchester, Stateline & Roaring Knob Add Mega Fall Events to UFo 2016 Schedule!
Clinton County Adds Semi-Late Event!
(Mars, PA) The UFo Championship is the only dirt series to offer two late model divisions, and additional dates have been added to both division tours as the 2016 invasion plan moves into finalization. Three additional blockbuster fall events, a new summer SuperNova race and another Semi-Late meet have been confirmed.
The 53rd annual “Winchester 200” at Winchester Speedway and the first-ever “Stateline ShootOut” at Stateline Speedway will now run under the UFo banner. Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex has returned to the UFo galaxy with a duo of UFo SuperNova double late model division events, the “Big Kahuna” in September and the “Ernie Jones Stars & Cars” in July.
The New Stateline Speedway is roaring back into a full racing schedule in 2016 with a slate of high-profile events. The “Stateline ShootOut” on September 9-10 will be the conclusion the track’s exciting season and will offer a duo of UFo Super Late Model point events along with the BRP Big Block Modifieds.
On Friday, September 9, the mighty UFo Super Late Models will pair with the ferocious BRP Mod Tour Big Block Modifieds for a double top-division spectacular. The UFo Super Late Models will compete in a full racing program and a championship feature with the BRP Big Block Modifieds will also racing in a complete program. Outlaw E-mods and RUSH Crate Late Models will determine their initial qualifying drivers with qualifying heat races with the Challenger and Super Sportsman classes racing in full programs.
On Saturday, September 10, the UFo Super Late Models will crank it up with another full racing program with a championship feature. The Outlaw E-mods and RUSH Crate Late Models will race in their consolations and championship feature races. Street Stocks, Pro-Mods and tentatively Pure Stocks will also racing in full racing programs.
The New Stateline Speedway will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the track in 2016. The new owners Jim and Jean Scott and Brian Horner are making improvements throughout the off-season to bring the track back to its prime. Stateline will be the site of two UFo Super Late Model landings during the season with “The 60th” paying a whopping $10,060 to win on Thursday, July 21. This event is partnered with a $3,000 to win UFo debut event at Raceway 7 on Friday, July 22.
Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex was an original UFo track when the tour debuted in 2008 and will once again be part of the circuit. The “Big Kahuna” will be a SuperNova event and will take place on Friday and Saturday, September 16-17. The UFo Super Late Models will race on Friday for $2,000 in a 38 lap feature and again on Saturday for $4,000 in a 51 lap championship. The UFo Semi-Lates will compete in a two-day program cumulating with a $1,500 to win, 41 lap championship.
The UFo Super Lates and Semi-Lates will also compete in a SuperNova event at Roaring Knob on July 2 in the “Ernie Jones Stars & Cars.” Super Late Models will race 44 laps for $3,000 while Semi-Lates will race 33 laps for $1,000. The following night, the UFo Super Late Models will race for $4,000 and the UFo Semi-Lates will vie for $1,000 at Dog Hollow Speedway. 2016 will mark the seventh season under promoter Rick Jones at Roaring Knob. A season of great events is being formulated for the scenic, mountain-top 3/8 mile supertrack.
2016 will mark the first time that the long-running “Winchester 200” will be part of the UFo tour. In 2015, Winchester moved their marquee event to the second weekend of October and will continue to build this strong regional event on that same weekend this year. Both the UFo Super Late Model and UFo Semi-Late champions will be determined at the 3/8 mile supertrack as the “200” will be the tour grand finale. The UFo Super Late Models will compete in two programs with $2,000 to win on Friday night, October 7 and $5,100 to win on Saturday night, October 8. The UFo Semi-Lates will race in a 1-day program on Saturday, October 8 with $1,000 going to the winner.
The “Winchester 200” is one of the most prestigious events in the Old Dominion. The first “200” was run in 1963 with Ray Sowers taking the win. Gary Stuhler is the all-time winner of the event with nine wins. Sam Nalley and Ray Dovel have 4 wins each, with Bo Feathers, Bart Hartman, Rick Eckert, Jack Boggs, Rodney Franklin, Denny Bonebrake, Buddy Armel and Tommy Bare each winning two events. Other one-time winners include Gregg Satterlee, Keith Jackson, JT Spence, Dale McDowell, Ronnie Dehaven, Jr., Josh Richards, Steve Francis, Steve Casebolt, Jeremy Miller, Todd Andrews, Chub Frank, Tom Clise, Jeff Purvis, Tom Peck, Buzzie Walters, Gerald Chamberlain, John Cragan and Bob Burns.
Clinton County Motor Speedway will come aboard with the UFo Championship tour with a stand-alone Semi-Late event. The “I-80 Comet” on Friday, May 27 will showcase a 33 lap UFo Semi-Late championship paying $1,000 to win. Clinton County is under the new management of Wayne Cochran and Sam Ray in 2016. They have already resurfaced and widened the racing surface in the off-season. Clinton County will operate on Friday nights with Limited Lates at their headline division.
UFo Super Late Models and Semi-Lates will make their debut at Winchester on Saturday, July 16 with the “V2 Shockwave.” Track owner Greg Gunter has made Winchester a showplace of the East Coast and Winchester will prove to be a perfect destination for the 2-division UFo tour.
The 2016 UFo tour schedule now includes 20 Super Late Model race dates and 10 Semi-Late race dates as the schedule reaches its maximum. Updated 2016 Super Late Model and Semi-Late rules have been posted to the tour website. Both rules packages incorporate virtually every type of car found in the region, making them competitive with weight breaks and spoiler differences. Race teams may choose their category according to their budget with the UFo tour.
With the unique track-alliance structure of the UFo Race Championship tour, 100% of the sponsor’s points bonus contributions will be paid out to the drivers at the end of the 2016 season in addition to the per-event track contributions. UFo is able to pay a strong point fund without the use of membership fees due to the support of these excellent sponsors.
