I think they need to change the nose pieces on dirt late models. They have become so wide, with flares on them, and quite frankly are ugly!! Need to go back to the style in the early 2000's imo!

I agree. Get rid of those ugly sail panels, also.

Most will tell you they help aerodynamically... but I agree they are butt ugly. My old POS will have an earlier style on it this year although I have two 2nd gen MD3's in stock.

It's interesting to note that the NHRA is hoping to see growth in it's 'stock appearing' classes after fan interest in the Pro Stocks has waned. Research shows the fans like to see race cars that have a closer resemblance to real cars...

Why not go back to wedge noses? And the sail panels have gota go back to old style too.

We ran LM through the middle '90s and loved the stock type and the wedge type styles we ran back then. Changed to the Super Stock/Pro Stock car we now run and, unfortunately that ugly trend has trickled down to us. It's like putting lipstick on a pig...you've still got a pig.

Agree my son just paid right around 325 for md3 nose / flappers and lower valance.I could build wedge nose for less than 100$ I would think.

I would love to have a $10k or 20k wedge body race. That would be sweet

But think about it you could have a template (width and length) for it and one for sailpanels. You could save some big $$$. Have a shock and tire rule and there you go... a series.

It's wishful thinking and we can't live in the past, but I'd like to see them go back to this.

It'd prob save some $ but not a whole lot. I'd just like to see them get rid of the flares, and the lip at the bottom, and not make them so wide. They could still have the "stock" appearance. I feel it's take away this aero push these guys talk about when in traffic. Put it more in the drivers hands. Sail panels would all be cut open it I run a series.

But they're quite durable.

But how much aero push would you have with a wedge nose? Little if any really. That push comes from having that nose (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)ed up on one side and those fender flares

IMO the early to mid 2000's were the best.

Many of our cars looked more or less like norm p's pics and most of our bodies were built on a home made "bender" of 2 X 4s, some plywood and a couple of C clamps using galvanized sheet metal I got from my HVAC sub contractor for $8-10 a sheet. A little vinegar to prep for paint and quart or two of $6 industrial enamel and total cost was less than $100. Build one in an afternoon and weighed less than 15 lbs. more than the rich guys' aluminum bodies. Leave 2 gallons of fuel out and skip the double cheeseburger and large fries on the way to the track and we weighed the same. Thought we were getting fancy the first time I bought a fiberglass roof.
