Ponderosa Speedway Announces $5,000 to win Pro Late Model Event and Modified Tire Rules
Junction City, KY- March 1, 2016- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson is pleased to announce an addition to the 2016 racing schedule and to also announce the tire rule for the Modified division for the 2016 race season at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”.
On Saturday July 30, Ponderosa Speedway will present a Pro Late Model event that will be 88 laps in distance and pay $5,000 to win and $250 to start. Also, as was already on the schedule, the Four Cylinder division will compete in the Four Cylinder Frenzy event that same evening and will race for $1,000 to win. Completing the racing program on Saturday July 30 will be a full racing program for Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones.
Also, Ponderosa Speedway would like to take this opportunity to announce the tire rules for the Modified division for the upcoming 2016 season. The tire brands and compounds that will be legal for competition will be as follows: Hoosier- UMP approved tires: A40S, A40, H40; non UMP approved tires: Medium and Hard (M100 and M200 are NOT legal); American Racer- Medium and Hard. No chemical altering of tires allowed. All tire compounds must punch 48 when cold. For the Modified division, tires cannot be grooved, but they can be siped. Compound numbers must be clearly visible on the sides of the tires and no altering or buffering of compound numbers are allowed. Any tire that looks like it has been altered will not be allowed in competition.
Ponderosa Speedway is set have an open practice day at the track on Sunday afternoon March 20 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., while the track will kick off its 44th season of racing competition on Friday March 25. There will be five weekly divisions of racing competition at the track in 2016 and they will include Pro Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Four Cylinders, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones. The Super Late Model division will compete at Ponderosa Speedway in 2016, but they will be on the racing card for special events only.
