Ponderosa Speedway's $5,000 to win Pro (Crate) Late Model Special Event to be Known as "The Big Daddy Classic"
Junction City, KY- March 7, 2016- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson is pleased to announce the $5,000 to win Pro (Crate) Late Model special event scheduled for Saturday July 30 will be known as "The Big Daddy Classic".
"The Big Daddy Classic" will feature Pro (Crate) Late Models competing in an 88 lap event that will pay $5,000 to win and $250 to start. The event will be contested in memory of the late Paul "Big Daddy" Feistritzer, who was a long-time competitor at Ponderosa Speedway in the Super Late Model ranks and was one of the first drivers in the region to equip his Late Model one of the Crate engines. The event will be unsanctioned and will be run under Ponderosa Speedway track rules, regulations, and tire rules.
Also on the racing card for this special Saturday night event will be the Four Cylinders racing for $1,000 to win in the Four Cylinder Frenzy event, along with a full racing program for Modifieds, KDRA Super Stocks, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones.
Also of note, the Super Stock division at Ponderosa Speedway for 2016 will utilize the KDRA rules and tire package at a majority of the track's events for the 2016 season. Any events not using the KDRA rules package will be announced well in advance of those events.
The initial on-track activities at Ponderosa Speedway are set to begin with the track’s annual Test and Tune Open Practice day on Sunday afternoon March 20. Pit gates will open at Noon for practice day and practice laps will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. that afternoon.
The 2016 race season will officially begin at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday March 25 with the track’s 44th Annual Season Opener that will feature a full racing program for Pro (Crate) Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Four Cylinders, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones.
The featured divisions at Ponderosa Speedway for the 2016 season will be Pro (Crate) Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks, Four Cylinders, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones. Super Late Models will compete in special events only at the track in 2016, with six events on the schedule at this time.
