CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 3 competition in the 27-week NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will feature ten races at nine different tracks in five different states. Four tracks will present their 2016 NeSmith Late Model season opener, and one track will host its first-ever sanctioned race.

Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, TX will host its first-ever NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model race on Friday night. Also presenting Week 3 Friday night races will be Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, and Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS with the first of two Week 3 races.

Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 competition will be highlighted by the season opener at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL with the 2016 season opener for the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series. Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL will be on hand to defending his 2015 Championship.

Camden Speedway in Camden, TN and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will host their 2016 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season openers on Saturday night. Jackson Motor Speedway will present its second Week 3 race on Saturday night, and if a driver can win the races on both Friday and Saturday nights, bonus money will be handed out.

Also in action with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 Saturday night races will be Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX, LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National standings with 99 points and Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS is second with 98 points. Robbie Starnes of Baytown, TX is third with 97 points, and Bryan Foy of Lacombe, LA is fourth with 96 points.

Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS and Hunter Lewis of Moss Point, MS are tied for fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 92 points apiece. Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series driver, 16-year-old Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS, is seventh with 91 points, and Scott Ladner of Hattiesburg, MS is eighth with 90 points.

Chris Reid of Wiggins, MS and Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series driver and the youngest driver in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series, 13-year-old Colten Horner of Katy, TX, are tied for the ninth spot in the standings with 89 points apiece.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season that runs through September 25. The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with. The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
