Dog Hollow, Tyler County & PPMS Next Up for UFo Championship!

(Mars, PA) After a highly successful “2016 World Blastoff” at Port Royal Speedway with 78 total late model cars, the UFo Championshp will continue its spring invasion at three more supertracks. The UFo Semi-Lates will attack the Dog Hollow Speedway for the “Springtime Spectacular.” Tyler County Speedway will host the “Topless 50” UFo SuperNova event featuring both the Super Late Models and Semi-Lates. Then the UFo Super Late Models will return to the wide track at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway for the “Herb Scott Championship” with a new date than originally announced.

Dog Hollow Speedway has become the central base for the UFo Championship with its star location in the middle of the UFo terriorty. Dog Hollow will be the site of five UFo events in 2016 starting with the Springtime Spectacular on Saturday, April 23. The UFo Semi-Lates will be the main attraction in a rare stand-alone event for the division. The 33 lap championship will pay $1,016 to win and $140 to start with $100 tow money. A $100 bonus will also be paid to the highest finishing sealed 602 or 604 crate motor car. The UFo Semi-Late rules use various weights and spoiler heights to make all types of cars competitive. Under these rules, crate, limited and steel block cars have all achieved wins or second place finishes at tracks similar to Dog Hollow.

The Mid-Atlantic Mod E-mods will open up their season at Dog Hollow. The E-mods will race 30 laps for $1,016 to win and $116 to start. Dog Hollow’s new integrated Cadet (street stock) division rules will be in effect for the first time at this event. This class combines virtually all area street stock rules into different weight categories to make all cars competitive. The 30 lap Cadet feature will pay $600 to win. The Cyclone Mini-Late Models will be in competition with a 100 lap Enduro finishing off the night paying $1,000 to win based on .

Pit gates will open at 3:30 with the drivers meeting/pill draw cut-off at 5:30. Warm-ups will begin at 6:00 with racing to follow. Adult admission is only $13 for the grandstands, with $11 for seniors, $8 for juniors 13-17 and $6 for children 7-12. A family pass for two adults and two children with two hotdog and drinks will be $35. The family pass for two adults and three children with three hot dogs and drinks will be $40. The rain date for the “Springtime Spectacular” is Sunday April 24, with all times one hour earlier.

All pits are $30 with $15 Semi-Late car entry fee deducted from the final payoff. Dog Hollow will use an open tire compound rule for the Semi-Lates with all UFo tire measurement specs in effect.

Tyler County Speedway has hosted a UFo event every season of UFo existence, and will have their first UFo event of 2016 on Saturday, May 7. The UFo/STARS “Topless 50” will be a SuperNova event featuring both the powerful Super Late Models and mighty Semi-Lates. The UFo Championshp will clash with the new STARS/AMRA Super Late Models in this unique co-tour event.

The Super Late Models will race 50 laps for $3,000 to win, $300 to start with $150 for non-qualifiers. Semi-Lates will go 33 laps for $1,000 to win, $140 to start with $100 for non-qualifiers. Both divisions will race topless. It is recommended that race teams seal off the roll cage halo with sheet metal. Tyler County will also use open tire compound rules in both divisions. Tyler County requires Westhold (yellow) transponders. Drivers are reminded that they are only permitted to compete in one UFo division on any one night. All UFo Super Late Model and Semi-Late rules and weights will apply for the “Topless 50.” Tyler County will also use an open compound tire rule for both classes. E-mods, Hot-Mods, Mod-Lites, 4-Cylinders and Mini-Wedges will complete the program.

At the STARS/UFo “Topless 50,” admission will be $20 grandstands and $35 pits. Children ages 10 and under are free in the grandstands and 5 and under are free in the pits. Super Late Models will have a $25 entry fee and Semi-Lates will have a $15 entry fee, deducted from final payoff. Gates will open at 4 PM with Mini-Wedge racing at 6 PM and warm-ups at 6:30. Racing will follow the completion of warm-ups.

Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway has advanced the date of their UFo “Herb Scott Championship” up to Saturday, May 14 in order to accommodate more drivers in the region. This event will honor the Pittsburgh-area racing icon and will mark the return of the UFo Super Late Models at Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile, for the first time since 2012. The 35 lap UFo Super Late Model championship will pay $3,000 to the winner, $300 to start and $150 for non-qualifiers. The starting grid at PPMS will be based on car count up to a 30 car starting field. A standard 24-car starting grid will be the minimum number of cars to start the feature. If the total car count hits 30 cars, two more feature positions will be added for a total of 26 cars. For 35 cars, 28 will start and for 39 cars, 30 will start.

RUSH Crate Late Models, Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and Young Gun 4-cylinders will also be on the racing program. PPMS will use will required American Racer 44 or harder or Hoosier 15/1300 or harder tires with a 36 minimum punch at their UFo events. PPMS requires AMB (red) transponders.

On May 14 at PPMS, gates will open at 5 PM with warm-ups at 6 PM and racing at 7 PM. Admission will be $25 grandstands, seniors 60+ $24, juniors 13-16 $15, children 6-12 $5, and pits $40. Reserved parking is available for $10 extra. UFo Super Late Models will have a $25 entry fee deducted from the final payoff.

After evaluation of local track rules, and car registration/performance of the first UFo Semi-Late some adjustments have been made to the rules.

All cars will be permitted a 40” maximum deck height at all points.

The head rule for the 2,350 weight category has been unified to be the same for all cars, with magnetos now permitted.

The renamed Flat Top 2,400 weight category will now have an option for 410 maximum cubic inch, steel head, flat top piston motors to compete in that category with 50 pounds of weight mounted on or in front of the motor mid-plate.

The motor mid-plate weight will also be required for all events for aluminum head cars in the 2,400 category.

At Tyler County only, steel block/steel head 430 maximum motor cars may weigh 2,400 with no motor mid-plate.

Steel Block 430 maximum motor cars with aluminum heads will be required to weigh 2,450 at all events. The motor mid-plate is no longer required at any event for the 2,450 category. Additional adjustments may be made in the future as competition continues to be evaluated.
