CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 3 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series was a good one for two former National Champions and a father-son race team. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is still on top of the National points list with a three-point advantage over Robbie Starnes of Baytown, TX.

Lee’s best Week 3 finish was a third-place effort on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Billy Riels Racing Special. In the first weeks of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season, Lee has 147 points with one win, four top five finishes and five top ten finishes in five races.

Starnes has 144 points with one win, three top five finishes and four ten finishes in four races. Starnes spent Week 3 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS where his best finish was a fourth-place effort on Saturday night.

Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 140 points after one win, two top five finishes and four top ten finishes in four races driving the Miss-Lou Mobile Home Movers Trak-Star. Arnold’s best Week 3 finish was a third-place showing at LA 36 Speedway on Saturday night.

Bryan Foy of Lacombe, LA and Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS are tied for the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 137 points apiece. Foy has two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in three races. Ladner has one top five finish and five top ten finishes in five races.

Foy drove the B&K Contracting Trak-Star to a tenth-place finish on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway. Ladner finished fourth on Friday night in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 competition at Hattiesburg Speedway driving the L&L Performance Trak-Star.

Hunter Lewis of Moss Point, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 133 points after two top five finishes in three races driving the Lewis Racing Special. Lewis finished outside the top five for the first time this season on Saturday night when he finished 22nd at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Nick Gaines of Pearl River, LA is seventh in the standings with 126 points after two top ten finishes in three races. Gaines finished ninth on Saturday night in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 action at LA 36 Speedway driving the Great American Cookies of Slidell Special.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS drove The Strength Center Special to his second NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the seaon in Week 3 action on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. That moves Arnold up to the eighth spot in the standings with 125 points after two wins in four races.

The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS is the man with the hot hand, and remains undefeated in the 2016 season. Washington picked wins two and three for the season on Friday night and Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway driving the 45 Race Shop Special.

Washington is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 100 points. Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS and Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS are tied for the tenth spot in the standings with 98 points apiece.

Bridgmon drove the Robinson Electric Special to victory on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Dedwylder took Week 3 off for NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition to travel with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour. Dedwylder finished second on Saturday night at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN.

It was a family affair on Saturday night at LA 36 Speedway, as the father and son team of Mike and Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL finished one-two respectively in their Boland Performance Trak-Stars. Boland helped his cause in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge points with the leading fourth win of the season for Trak-Star Race Cars.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 action, Cody Smith of Holt, FL won the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series season opener on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL driving the Smith’s Performance Rocket. Ricky Begnaud of Spring, TX was the Friday winner at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, TX driving the Roof Tech Special.

Rusty Harmon of Paige, TX took the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series victory on Saturday night at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX and Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN was the winner on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN driving the Ronnie Cooper Trucking Special.

The 2015 Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series Champion, 14-year-old Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL drove the Skinner’s Body Shop CVR to his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.
