CARTERSVILLE, GA - A schedule of 13 races in six states will highlight Week 5 of the 2016 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series 27-week season with four Friday night events and eight races contested on Saturday night. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader with a ten-point advantage over Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS.

Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway of Columbus, MS Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, and Salina Speedway in Salina, KS will host Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 5 events. Penton Raceway will be having their 2016 season opener.

Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will host Round 3 of the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series on Saturday night. Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS and North Mississippi Motor Park Speedway in Corinth, MS with a $1,000-to-win race will present their 2016 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season openers.

Camden Speedway in Camden, TN will be in action on Saturday night, as will Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX. Also having Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 5 races are Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Magnolia Motor Speedway on Friday night and Whynot Motorsports Park on Saturday night will both have a rare treat for race fans, as three NeSmith Racing Divisions will be in the same racing program. The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will join the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division at both tracks on the same night.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Models are powered by the $7,195 all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT525 Racing Engine based on the production LS3 Engine that comes in the Chevrolet Corvette, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Chevrolet SS available at Chevrolet dealerships worldwide.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models are powered by the $5,795 Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine. The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stocks have the $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine as an option for use in competition, and are used by many of the top competitors.

Lee has 197 points and Arnold has 187 points. Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 185 and Robbie Starnes of Baytown, TX is fourth with 183 points. Bryan Foy of Lacombe, LA is fifth with 178 points and Hunter Lewis of Moss Point, MS is sixth with 176 points.

Nick Gaines of Pearl River, LA is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 167 points and Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series driver 15-year-old Dylan Allen of Baytown, TX is eighth with 158 points. Mike Boland of Cuba, AL is ninth with 142 points and Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS rounds out the Top 10 with 141 points.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season that runs through September 25. The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with. The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
