FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Black Charges to UFo Semi-Late Win at Dog Hollow from 9th!

(Strongstown, PA) Robbie Black drew the next-to-worst pill for the heat race lineups at the UFo “Springtime Spectacular” at Dog Hollow Speedway on Saturday night. The ace raced his way in the heat race into a redraw positing, then charged from 9th to claim the $1,016 UFo Semi-Late win.

Ralph Morgan Jr, Gabe Shaffer and Andy Fries won the qualifying heat races, with the redraw putting Todd Snook and Fries on the front Rowe for the 33 lap feature.

At the drop of the green Fries raced into the lead and dominated the first half of the race. After Black took second, he started to close in on Fries. A double file restart on lap 17 set up a race for the lead between the two, with Black taking the top position on lap 24.

It appeared that a three way battle for the lead would ensue after a lap 27 restart between Black, Fries and 12th starting Ralph Morgan Jr, but Fries broke and retired from the race. On the restart, Morgan slid high going back to sixth while Shaffer and 11th starting Eric Irvin moved up to second and third. Shaffer used the high side to chase Black, but Black’s 360 limited motor car found the way to victory lane.

Shaffer followed Black at the finish. Irvin claimed his second consecutive third place finish in UFo Semi-Late competition, making him the current leader in a tight point race. LC Powers raced from 10th to finish fourth with Snook finishing fifth. Morgan, opening event winner Rance Garlock, Tim Krape, Brad Kling and Kenny Yoder rounded out the top ten. Black, Irvin and Rick Lias all collected two bonus points for each gaining eight positions in the feature race.

The UFo Super Late Model trek will continue on Saturday, May 7 at Tyler County Speedway. The “Topless 50” will be a UFo 2-late model division, Supernova event. The UFo Super Late Models will race topless for 50 laps paying $3,000 to win, with the topless UFo Semi-Lates paying $1,000 for 33 laps.

The UFo Super Late Models will return to the wide, racey monster half-mile at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway on the following Saturday, May 14. The Diehl Automotive UFo “Herb Scott Championship” will pay $3,000 to win, and $300 to start for the 35 lap championship. The starting grid will be up to 30 cars based on car count, with 26 cars starting if 30 UFo Super Late Models compete, 28 if 35 compete and 30 if 39 compete.
