YEP! At the Land of 3-wide, Ark-La-Tex Speedway too! FIRST ONE is THIS SATURDAY, May 7th!

May is Late Model month at Ark-La-Tex Speedway where there has never been a bad Late Model race, as both of our May dates feature popular mid-south Late Model series.

Then 2 weeks after the last one, we have our only June race but wow... if you're only going to run one, make it the COMP Cams Doug Murphrey Memorial $10,000-to-win Modified race!!!

One of the many positives a Late Model fan can get at this first show -- the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series race on May 7th -- has been the average car count over the 5 events.

**33**

Which is exactly the amount we got last year!

33 is awesome for a regional series event these days. The record for this show and for any stand-alone COMP Cams SDS race for that matter was 44 in 2013. The biggest reason for this many at this particular show is the track. The racers really enjoy running at the "Land of 3-wide". Even if they're a national guy used to racing for a lot more purse, they will on occasion show up at this one and test some stuff. Billy Moyer for example. They trust the track to be smooth and racy and they can learn what they want to learn.

Another reason is Chris Ellis and COMP Cams Super Dirt Series. They have a good program with good rules and run a fair competitive program. They have done well with scheduling too. Having two shows for the weekend close, but not too close is a key for tracks to have successful nights. In this case, Diamond Park Speedway up in Murphreesboro, Arkansas will run the Friday night show. Two purses for the weekend encourages tour regulars and others to come race them both.

And finally we just have a nice corp group of 'local' guys that still like to wheel a Late Model that don't have as many local races as they used to. Whether they're Houston cars, east Texas cars, south, central or north Louisiana, they circle this one! Even Mississippi racers like this event. Bub McCool for example. Spec motors? They just change spoilers and race. 1/4 mile, slick multi-grooved track means less horsepower doesn't hurt as much.
