CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 7 of the 2016 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will be a light one in observance of Mother’s Day. There are six races on the Week 7 schedule of events with two races on Friday and four races on Saturday. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS continues to lead the point standings.

Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 7 events are scheduled for Salina Speedway in Salina, KS and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Whynot Motorsports Park will host a $1,000-to-win race.

The four Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 7 races will be held at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Lee holds a 15 point lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings over Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS. Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is third and Hunter Lewis of Moss Point, MS is fourth.

Robbie Starnes of Baytown, TX is fifth. Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS has the sixth spot, and the defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is seventh. Nick Gaines of Pearl River, LA is eighth, Cody Smith of Holt, FL is ninth, and Mike Boland of Cuba, AL rounds out the top ten in the National point standings.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season that runs through September 25. The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with. The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
