In the picture of Stovall taking the checkered that is on DOD, there appears to be about a 4-5 foot gap there under the flag stand for passing through to the infield, with what looks to be only a light duty chain-link fence across it. Seems to me like a car at the right angle would blow right through that, hit the guardrail head on, possibly take out the flag stand. I've been to sprint car races there before but never noticed it. If a sprint car right rear hit that fence and then sheared the wheel off with the guard rail, that would be gruesome. Just an observation. Not trying to be the what-if guy, but with some accidents we've seen lately, this seems blatantly unsafe to me. I would add the picture but this site is too picky when it comes to attachments.
