By Michael Despain, CT Promotions

Somerset, KY (June 3, 2016)- Officials with the Iron-Man Mountain Championship Series are pleased to announce the addition of the 4th Annual Scott Sexton Memorial at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN on Friday July 1 to an already busy three-week stretch of competition for the series.

This prestigious event, which is a must-see event for all race fans in the East Tennessee area, is being held in the memory of the late Scott Sexton, a mainstay in the East Tennessee racing scene for more than 25 years, who passed away in January 2013 at just 46 years of age. Scott began his racing career at the tender age of 6. Sexton was an 8-time World Karting Association World Champion before moving into Dirt Late Models in 1986, where he quickly became a fan favorite around East Tennessee, earning the nickname “Superman”. Between 1995 and 2005, Sexton won 10 Southern All Star Racing Series events between Atomic Speedway and Volunteer Speedway, and was the track champion in 1991 and 1995 at Volunteer Speedway, along with garnering many other special event wins. Scott was known as one of the most fan-friendly drivers in the area, always participating in charitable events and usually donating his winning trophies to children at the track. Sexton will always be remembered for giving back to the sport he loved so much.

The tour will officially get action underway at Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, KY on Friday June 17 with a 30 lap, $3,000 to win event that will also see the track’s Modified, Bomber, and Four Cylinder divisions.

The following evening on Saturday June 18, the tour will make the trip to 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY for the Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial event that will pay $3,000 to win, along with the Bill McCloud Memorial $1,00 to win event for Bombers, plus Modifieds and Stock Four Cylinders.

The Iron-Man Mountain Championship will venture to Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY on Saturday June 25 for the 12th Annual Iron-Man Classic, which will be co-sanctioned with the Southern Nationals Bonus Series and that event will be 60 laps and pay $10,050 to win, along with the track’s Modified, KDRA Super Stock, and Mini-Cup/Cyclone divisions in action. There will also be an open practice for this event on Friday June 24
.

Friday July 1, along with a $2,000 to win contest for the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series, while the track’s Sportsman Late Model and Modified Street divisions also in action, plus there will be a huge fireworks show as well.
