Measuring Springs (loaded length, on car)

How do you guys measure your coil over combo when it's on the car ?

Does anybody make a caliper to measure that distance ? (~ 16+ ")

Where do you measure to and from ?

Mounting pin to coilover nut with a tape measure. Or measure spring cup to cup, wt measure. Make a simple tool like this http://www.speedwaymotors.com/DECO-Radius-Rod-Building-Tool-32-Inch-Overall-Length-,33108.html, and measure pin to pin, after locking, this one has #'s on it

Two methods you could do would be.
1. Center to center, wehrs makes some nice tools to help with this but just being accurate and taking your time is key. I line up my wrench flats or if the bolt sticks out say on RF any I measure tip of bolts. You do have to watch bowing the tape around the spring.
2. Measure your spring length from bottom of cup to top of adjuster. Then when you put it on a coil over rated you compress it to the same distance and then measure center to center off the car.

the trick to this is consistency,how ever you do it on the car(the measuring),do it the same on your spring rater,but i do like ccheif's idea,i could see drilling a small hole in the side of the cup and putting a roll pin with a little lock tight working

Harbor Freight has a 24" aluminum caliper that works mostly ok. Kind of gets tricky to measure sometimes since there's always something in the way.

I also record the measurement from the top of the nut to the top surface of the shock body, I use a machinist ruler for this, so you can slide the little "tee" part down against the surface, remove it to read it.
