50 laps for $1500 & $750?????? Their kidding right?

I'm guessing your saying that because of the amount of laps and the money being paid. If I'm not mistaking It's become a tradition they have done for a few years now and if the guys that show up and race it don't have a problem with it I don't know why anyone else would. Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure of that.

Macon is a great track and I enjoy watching the racing there. The big problem is Sarge can't run a show without 5 or 6 classes of racing. I go to watch races not be there for a marathon.

The only "tradition" is that Sargent never pays well.........

The guys that do run this race like it and have fun at it. I guess that's really all that matters.
I don't want to get into what a promoter does or doesn't do.

Super Late Models Set For Saturday Return To Macon Speedway
Big Ten Is A Tune-Up For Big July Shows

Macon IL Speedway is set for the return of the Midwest Big Ten Super Late Models this coming Saturday, June 18. It's the first Macon event this season for the blazing fast cars and it will be a great tune-up for drivers that will be competing in three big Super Late Model shows during the month of July. The UMP Billingsley Towing Modifieds are also on schedule for a big show Saturday night.

Formerly a regular class at the track, the Super Late Model division only makes five visits this season. After this Saturday, fans will only be treated to four more appearances in 2016. In July, the cars will be on hand for the Thursday, July 7 Herald & Review 100, Saturday, July 23 for the Kerbystrong event, and Tuesday, July 26 for the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series. The final Super show of the season is on Saturday, August 27.

As an added bonus for doing well in the Big Ten Super Late Model events, the top driver in points who is not locked into July's Summernationals and Lucas Oil event at Macon, will be chosen for the promoter's option. Springfield, IL's Brian Diveley currently leads the standings, while Greg Kimmons, McKay Wenger, Bo Brockway, and Chuck Mitchell are the rest of the top five. Other drivers among the top ten are Daryn Klein, Chad Zobrist, Justin Reed, Dustin Griffin, and Gordy Gundaker.

The track is also welcoming Pro Late Model drivers to compete. The top finishing Pro Late Model competitor on Saturday night will receive a $100 bonus. The event pays $1,500 to win and $150 to start.

The Miller Lite Twin 50's will see the other 50 lapper coming from the UMP Billingsley Towing Modified division. The race will be paying $700 to the winner. Decatur, IL driver Dave Crawley, Jr. leads the points by 54 over Curt Rhodes. Jeff Graham, Rodney Standerfer, and Zach Rhodes are in the top five. Other drivers to watch for include Alan Crowder, Shawn Vaughn, Cory Daugherty, Rick Hamilton, and Wade Glover.

Rounding out Saturday's action will be the very strong Street Stock division, the part time Sportsman class, and the improving Hornet division.

Pit gates open Saturday at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, competitor pill draw ends at 5:50, hotlaps begin at 6:00, and racing will take the green at 7:00. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and free for kids 11 and under.

Just 1 day away from what should be a great show.

Realize small track and great way for locals to have chance to run long race but yes laps and pay don't add together right. Always wanted to check place out. Looks racey in vids. Around here 1200 to win 150 to start pretty common with in few dollars and only 30 laps. This advertised like big special show. What happened to Illinois being DLM hot bed

Like I said if the locals that run the race are not complaining then what's the problem. And as far Illinois being the Hot bed for late model racing it's just one of the
hot beds and if you don't believe so, listen to Mike Marlar and the reason he came up this week to run the first week of the Summer Nats Hell Tour.

Was talking car counts. They didn't drop supers for no reason. Used to be every track ran em. Round me is all winged sprints. Not knocking what they do and who chooses to run it. Just simply lot on equipment for so little. Was more shocked than anything to see 50 lap race for basically regular show pay
