Big Daddy 500 On Tap for Smoky Mountain Speedway this Saturday

Maryville, Tennessee (June 13, 2016) – Smoky Mountain Speedway is set to host another Super Late Model Special Event this Saturday night, June 18th. The half mile oval located just outside Maryville has become known in racing circles as America’s Special Events Late Model Track. The Big Daddy 500 will pit local and regional drivers against both the drivers of the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series and the drivers of the ULTIMATE Battle of the Bluegrass Series. The 40-lap feature event will pay $5000 to the winner. Also in action will be Sportsman racing for $1000 to win and the Street Stocks who will go after a $500 winner’s purse.

“Smoky Mountain has become a place that is known nationally for hosting Super Late Model special events. The ownership group there along with Casey Moses and Dustin Dunlap do such a great job with having the top events at their track. This will be our second visit this year and we are very excited about getting back. We always draw a great mix of talented drivers from all over the region. East Tennessee has some of the best regional talent anywhere in the country so there are always top guys to go up against our regulars. We expect many of those regional guys plus several of the Battle of the Bluegrass drivers and the ULTIMATE Series regulars. It should be another exciting event at the Mountain.” said ULTIMATE Series Director Kelley Carlton.

Kenny Collins of Colbert, Georgia leads Dennis “Rambo” Franklin of Gaffney, South Carolina by just 8 markers headed into the 8th event of the season. Just behind the leaders are Chris Ferguson of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; defending series champion Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Georgia and Glenn Elliott of Sykesville, Maryland. Seymour, Indiana’s Jeremy Hines leads Dustin Linville of Bryantsville, Kentucky; Jason Jameson of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Derek Fisher of Olympia, Kentucky and Harrodsburg, Kentucky’s Michael Chilton.
