FASTRAK Southeast Touring Division Set to Invade Lavonia

(Carnesville, Georgia)6/27/2016 – After the traditional summer break following the FASTRAK Triple Crown Weekend, the FASTRAK Southeast Touring Division roars back to life Friday night in Lavonia, Georgia as part of the 4th Annual Charlie Mize Memorial at Lavonia Speedway. Traditionally, the FASTRAK Southeast Touring Division has always incorporated a break in the touring series schedule enabling FASTRAK teams to enjoy time with family. As a result, the return after the break always sees an increased level of focus and intensity.

While the southeast has been in the grips of a heat wave as of late, the thermometer isn’t the only thing heating up.

Customarily, by the midway point of the year in a vast majority of racing series throughout the land, the impact of a DNF presumably is consequential enough to impact point standings. By comparison, the top 5 drivers in the FASTRAK Southeast Touring Division are separated by just a handful of points, thus a middle of the pack finish could be disastrous.

Currently, David Smith of Inman, SC sits atop the FASTRAK Southeast Touring Division point standings with just a two-point lead over Toccoa, GA’s Colby Cannon. Cla Knight of North Augusta, SC sits third seven ticks out of the points lead just ahead of York, SC’s Chris Steele. Jimmy Mac of Denver, SC rounds out the Top 5. Conceivably, the points lead is up for grabs!

Perhaps the biggest challenge each of the FASTRAK Southeast Touring Division point contenders will face at Lavonia Speedway on Friday is the wealth of Lavonia Speedway regulars who will be on hand to defend their home turf. While both Canon and Knight frequently compete at Lavonia, Randy McCoy of Franklin NC has collected numerous wins at Lavonia this year as well as at nearby FASTRAK sanctioned Toccoa Speedway. Current Lavonia Speedway points leader Vince Fanello who calls Lavonia home, could most assuredly compete for the win as could former FASTRAK Racing Series Grand National Champion Hot Rod Lamance, also of Lavonia, who frequently competes at Lavonia.

Also in competition at Lavonia Speedway Friday night, the Limited Late Models will be in action, as will the 602 Sportsman, Modified Street, Stock 4, Rookie 4, Stock 8 and Front Wheel Drive
There will be a fireworks display at 10:00 PM or just before the FASTRAK Southeast Touring Division feature event, whichever comes first

To commemorate the 4th Annual Charlie Mize Memorial, a number businesses and perennial power houses in motorsports are posting monetary awards or product give-a-way contributions to recognize and celebrate the late Charlie Mize, the grandfather of FASTRAK Touring Division driver David Smith.

Davenport Motors in Blairsville, Ga is presenting $200 to the fastest qualifier in FASTRAK Touring Division qualifying. Davenport Motors will also present $100 to the winner of each FASTRAK Touring Division heat race.

Collins Signs and Trophies of Colbert, Ga is providing trophies to the winners in all 8 classes
Spartanburg, SC’s Big A’s Custom Graphics will be providing commemorative plastic checks to winners in all 8 classes.

The growing list of product give-a-way contributors so far include Hoosier Apparel, FK Rod Ends, VP Racing Fuels, and City Chevrolet.
