Does anyone know if this is a points race? I'd hate to drive down there with it being 50/50 to rain and have a bunch of drivers pull a Josh and just quit early. I'm only asking since that happened last year.

It is a points race so I'd say they all race.

Still on so far. Why would they call it if its not raining?

I doubt they will call it. Dunn Benson does a big thing around it and last year they ran the race when there was major thunderstorms for an hour around 5-6pm. It's pretty standard conditions on any summer night in this area. They should know how to deal with it.

My question was more to find out if it was a points race. When I left for the track last year I thought it was a points race and I think they might have changed it because of track conditions after the rain, but I could never find out if it wasn't a points race all along or if they changed it to a non-points race due to track conditions after the rain. Kinda sucks to make a long ride, sit in the rain for long while if guys just decide to run a couple of token laps then pull in because they only earn show up points.

I'm pretty sure as long as it pays 10K+ to win and is 50+ laps, it is a points race. The only non points race are: the handful of 5K & 7K races at the beginning of the year in Fl/Ga, the 2 6K shows at Wheatland, and the 2 7K shows at Knoxville. Everything else is for points

Thanks. I actually just found my answer in the race report on the Third Turn race report from last year. It said the rough track conditions resulted in show up points only. So that's cool. On to FayetteNam!

Not sure why, but Fayetteville is always pretty quick to pull the plug if the R word pops up...........

Pulling the plug saves them a bunch of $

That part I understand, but they pull quick on the regular weekly shows also...........guess that's their thing.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Jim cantore has to be standing in the infield of Dublin for them to call it.........if any way possible they get it in , no matter what.

Which isn't always great for everybody either watching a feature take the green at 1:00am............

Was standing in line at the ticket booth when the rain started. Everybody in the ticket-line sort of crashed the gate, just walked right in, right past the ticket taker, etc. etc. and all went in the men's room to escape the rain. After about 30 minutes, they announced the cancellation. The bathroom crowd just walked back out.

LOL! A race at Dublin requires Noah to begin construction on the Ark to be called. You are delivered a program, at some hour, if Mother Nature has any thoughts about hesitation.

Which for me , is fine ........but I could see some that wouldn't or couldn't stay to see it.

Hats off to those guys though, they are always glass half full kinda guys........if it's doable, it's going to get done.

They're courteous too Barbequeboy. One race in the past, Richard Bailey told the drivers "if you will stay, we will race" and that's what happen, albeit in the wee hours of the morning. I believe ol' DoubleZero probably had to go to church in what he wore to the track and with a Hardee's breakfast platter!

Yep , we stayed that night too.........and knowing double zero, I'm sure it's not the first time the old 300 rolled into church in his racing attire.
