DETAILS: The 9th annual Unsanctioned Super Late Model "Firecracker 50" presented by LKQ Auto Parts is this Saturday night at Marvin Ford's Fort Payne (AL) Motor Speedway. The $3,000 to-WIN event held annually since 2008 at the 3/8's mile sweeping clay banked dirt track has garnered a who's who of former champions all beginning with "Fast" Frank Ingram of Acworth, GA. Twenty-four starters will make up the field that boasts a special Fireworks display prior to the 50 lap feature. Qualifying will set the field with B-mains if necessary. In the races history four Georgian's have taken the prize money. Ingram, Matthew Turner, Jake Knowles and Tyler Millwood. Two home state racers; Robert Gant of FlatRock and Jason Heitt of Oxford while the only repeat winner is Tennesseeian Riley Hickman who scored the 2014 and 2012 edition of the race.

WHO TO WATCH: Robert Gant is usually the main man at Fort Payne, but lately the #22 has been focusing on the UCRA Championship in his "Promaxx Ford" . Its a safe bet all eyes will be on Gant's yellow #22 SLM Saturday. Kasey "The Hurricane" Hall (fresh off surgery) is expected to be in his "Snap-On Tools" # 42, while Lucas Burns, Gar (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son, Aaron "Shaggy" Wilson are all expected to chase the $3,000 prize

EXPECTED ENTRANTS: Any and many of the defending race winners could be deciding to head to the NorthEast Alabama dirt track. Most of the area's other dirt track facilities are off and racers are seeking a place to compete. Young-gun/Local Favorite JT Seawright is expected, as is Gadsden's "Big Bad" Bo Shirley and Chattanoogian Tod Hernandez are a few other expected. Local racers; Darrell and DJ Hayes, Bryan Grider, TJ Britton and Rod Carroll are all expected as well.
