Jackie Boggs takes $3,000 Ultimate BOB SLMS victory at 191 Speedway
(Campton, Kentucky) 7/9/16 - Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Kentucky took home the victory in the Ultimate “Battle of The Bluegrass” Super Late Model Series Saturday at 191 Speedway worth $3,000. Derek Fisher, Jeremy Hines, Joe Mayabb, and Brent Cornette rounded out the top five finishers. Derek Fisher set fast time in qualifying with a time of 13.260 seconds. Heat race winners included Jackie Boggs and Derek Fisher.
The question in the pit area prior to the 35 lap main event was what role would lapped traffic play and how soon would it become a factor. The racing surface at 191 Speedway, at 5/16’s in length was perfectly prepared by promoter Jeff Mayhem.
As anticipated, lapped traffic was indeed a factor. At times throughout the event, race winner Boggs set sail, but time after time, any advantage Boggs had built up was erased allowing Fisher and Hines to close the gap.
On numerous occasions, Fisher was able to get a fender under Boggs with Hines tucked in close behind should Boggs and Fisher make contact. Boggs ability to launch off the corner at both ends of the speedway though proved to be the difference maker enabling Boggs to claim his first Ultimate “Battle off The Bluegrass” Super Late Model win in his first attempt in 2016.
The Ultimate “Battle of The Bluegrass” Super Late Model Series visits legendary Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY on July 23.
