1995, Real easy to tell as it has 2 pillar bars on the RF corner of the halo instead of 1. Several other things also.

What was the statement Joe made about that design......only 30 lbs heavier, but 40% stiffer???

IIRC it was 37# heavier, don't recall what they said on stiffness to be honest

The X member is also 1 5/8, just cutting that out and replacing will help but back then it required heavy surgery to get them consistent through out the night.

it was for sure 95 but could have been 96, it's been a few years.

They did do a wide front end in 2002, the lower control arms are 1" farther apart and had different geometry but the cars stayed pretty much the same from 95 to 2008 construction wise besides the over rail change in around 06 and some slight bar changes which were removed after the computer car deal.

The 1st year for the computer car was 1996 thru 1997 by the next year they kind of quit pushing them, they also cost a additional $500.00.

What was the problem with them?

From what I've read on them they were ahead of their time. With the shock and spring packages along with technology today it would fit right in with the newer cars

Where they very sensitive to track changes?Did some adjustment not work like they were thought to.

Yes, there were and had a major part in the reasoning for letting the chassis to flex that became so popular.

Ask Wendell about experimental car he has shortly after the computer car, lol.

I have a 06 floating x car with the g12 front end that I run in the crate class and absolutely love the car only issue I have with it is I have weld stress cracks in the frame almost weekly. I have just ordered a 2016 trak star and hope that it drives as good as my 10 year old floating x car
