Dennis Erb, Jr. Grabs Top Five at Granite City; Readies for Silver Dollar Nationals

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing ventured to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on July 15-16 for a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tilts. On Friday night in the 'Battle at the Beach 50' at Granite City, Dennis Erb, Jr. clicked off the fastest time in Group A during qualifying prior to finishing second in his heat race. After starting the rough-and-tumble $10,000 to win main event from the inside of the third row, Dennis kept his nose clean and eventually wound up right where he started the 50-lapper... in the fifth spot behind only winner Scott Bloomquist, Earl Pearson, Jr., Don O'Neal, and Brandon Sheppard.

At Wheatland on Saturday evening, the annual running of the 'CMH Diamond Nationals' was held and a $12,000 payday was on the line. Dennis timed in sixteenth quickest in Group A during the qualifying session and later ran eighth in his heat race and fifth in his B-Main. The Carpentersville, Illinois star then utilized a series provisional to gain access into the 60-lap feature before picking off ten competitors to salvage a thirteenth place performance. Dennis now finds himself sixth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings following the doubleheader weekend. Full results can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Next up for the #28 team will be a visit to I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska on July 22-23 for the fastest growing crown jewel event in Super Late Model racing. The 6th Annual ‘Silver Dollar Nationals,’ which will be co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil MLRA Series, is set for this weekend and Dennis will be in high pursuit of the whopping $40,000 top prize. A double set of heat races will be held at I-80 Speedway on Friday night, while the consolation events and the 80-lap ‘Silver Dollar Nationals’ are planned for Saturday evening.
