Jimmy Mars Readies for Corn Belt Doubleheader on Heels of Silver Dollar Nationals
(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Mars Racing made the trip to I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska on July 22-23 for the 6th Annual 'Silver Dollar Nationals,' which was co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil MLRA Series and boasted a whopping $40,000 payday. The unique format kicked off on Friday night with double heat races and passing points set the lineup for Saturday's portion of the program. Jimmy Mars ran third in both of his heat races on Friday and earned the fourteenth most passing points in doing so.
After starting Saturday evening's 80-lap crown jewel main event from the outside of the seventh row, Jimmy was unfortunately collected in a wreck caused by Tyler Erb on the thirteenth circuit. The Menomonie, Wisconsin standout was forced to retire with damage to his #28 mount and wound up thirty-fifth in the final finishing order. Jimmy and his #28 team have now circled a pair of Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series shows on their racing calendar for the upcoming July 29-30 weekend. The doubleheader will start on Friday night at Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa with a $5,000 to win shootout. On Saturday evening, a $5,454 top prize will be on the line at Lafayette County Speedway in Darlington, Wisconsin.
