Fals frenzy? Are you kidding? That was a drag out late night not ran well an before qualifing the track was one lane train. They finally reworked the track right before the feature which should have been done before the heats. An you def don't get out much at all. It was decent but def not the best of the year. Also the last 10 laps of feature it went back to one lane.

I'd rank that as top 5 for me. Great race.

At around lap 50 caution, their were only 2 catfishers with intact right rear quarters. The rest of the field was carnage. Lanigan and Owens were really trashed. Cushion was brutal. I love Macon.

This makes my 5th trip to Macon. I have never been to a weekly show, only Lucas Oil and Summer National races. That being said I think everyone needs to add one of these shows to their bucket list. It amazes me every time watching 20 some late models fly around that little bull ring. It's just something that needs to be experienced in person. I Look forward to the next trip.

There used to be a 1/5 mile in Macomb Illinois also. These tracks where made during the Midget hay days in the 40s 50s. I used to go to them because I worked with a couple guys that had Midgets. All three put on a good show. It is amazing how good the LM shows are on them

I've been to about 30 Herald & Review 100's and all of the Lucas Oil Late Model Series races at Macon and about 80% of all those events featured some of the best racing we see all year. Last night was no exception.

21 cars doesn't sound like it has the makings of a great show but it certainly was a great show despite the car count. If the race last night doesn't blow the "big car counts are required for a great show" theory out of the water, I don't know what does.

I almost didn't go to Mighty Macon last night due to some pending family duties but I'm REALLY glad I did!!

Over the 26 year history of the PDC there have been several that were less than stellar. I know, I've been to almost all of them. And this is the first year since way back in the 1970's that the Fairbury $hitters have been something more than a rather stomach turning experience.

A bigger car count doesn't mean a better feature race. One has nothing to do with the other. However, a bigger car count definitely means a better show overall. If for no other reason than it means more racing. I don't think anyone could argue otherwise.

That race last night is why I love this sport. When the racing is that good it doesn't matter who wins; you still have to love it. Four different chassis types in contention for the win right down to the wire too!

Does anyone know what happened to Owens? I figure he must have had a flat to finish at the tail of the lead lap.

I don't know as I've ever seen as much rear steer in a car as what Brandon Sheppard was showing. Half or more of the left rear was disappearing behind the sheet metal ahead of the wheel opening when he got back on the gas getting off the corners.

Seems like Bobby's car never squats in the corner at Macon, all others squat when they let off gas like what we normally see.

Think about this, Could it be, that Bobby is never really off the gas? Trail breaking helps for a smooth transition in the corners. The guys that use the throttle as a on/ off switch aren't as smooth and have trouble getting drive off the corner. This is one of the things that is called talent. It's hard to do well.

Bubstr
07-28-2016, 12:32 PM
Make no doubt about it, Bobby can still run the bottom if needed. Eventually I think he will run the bottom and middle, only moving to the cushion when needed, like Moyer, Birky, Owens. It's a learning curve. While that cushion pays off, it's dangerous. One Ah Chit, wipes out ten atta boys. Bottom line is, you got to run where the guy in front of you, isn't. The ability to run low just for a few laps won the Fan Frenzy race at FALLS this year. This kid has all the tools. He is just plain fun to watch. B Shep is also.

While that cushion pays off, it's dangerous. One Ah Chit, wipes out ten atta boys. The best line I ever heard about racing on the bottom came from none other than Mr. Jack Hewitt. He is quoted as saying " I don't like to be a bottom feeder, racing on the bottom is too much like having a real job".

I reckon Ol' Jack knows what he's talking about.
