I noticed a bent RF lower A arm. How does this happen? I know a guy who keeps bending them also. Im assuming the shock is bottoming out but there is still about 3/4" left on the travel indicator so not sure what to think. The bolt on the rearward lower mount was bent also. Any ideas? Anyone have any 1 piece lowers for sale? Gen X crate car

Where is the bend?

Right where the little bar is welded between the 2 arms. On the rear bar underneath. The bolt on the rear arm is also bent.

Assuming you're using a grade 5 or better bolt on the inner mount, it would have to take a heck of a lick to bend the bolt. I'd be checking the joints and spindle after discovering that. But even a rough racetrack should not cause the damage you are describing. And on a Gen-X front end, I've rarely seen a shock bottom out before the upper ball joint body hits the top of the shock stopping travel there. Take the spring off of the shock and put it back on the car and run it through the motions to see what is truly limiting travel. This may be telling.

The tracks I ran were not rough. There was no impact with anything. there was a small ding in the bulb of the shock. I ran a 325 spring and in the heat race it was very tacky, i was full throttle around this little 1/4 mile bullring. I won the race but i wonder if that is when it happened

Sounds like the spring may have been coil binding
