Jimmy Mars Leads Majority of Corn Belt Stop at Fayette County; Finishes Runner-Up

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 team invaded Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa on Friday night, July 29 for the Fayette County Fair Race. The Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series presided over the single-day throwdown in the Hawkeye State and a $5,000 winner's check was on the line.

Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action and later started and finished second in the headliner behind only race winner Chad Simpson - despite leading much of the feature distance. Saturday's $5,454 to win Corn Belt Clash tilt at Lafayette County Speedway in Darlington, Wisconsin was then halted by inclement weather. Complete results from Friday's visit to Fayette County can be found online at www.cornbeltclash.com.

The Mars Racing team plans to compete with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series this week in their home state of Wisconsin. Later tonight, August 2, a $10,000 top prize will be up for grabs at Shawano Speedway in Shawano, Wisconsin. The annual ‘USA Nationals’ weekend will then thrill the diehard fans at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin from August 4-6.

A $6,000 payday will greet the WOOLMS competitors in Thursday’s preliminary night at CLS, while the $50,000 to win ‘USA Nationals’ will take center stage on Friday and Saturday. Jimmy is a two-time winner of the storied crown jewel event (1996 & 2009) and will be gunning for his third wooden Eagle trophy this weekend!
